I just got my boat back from having the lower unit replace. This might be a long story but I rather give other boaters a heads up. Since I took my boat in the owner had given me a run a round. First we where going to make a warranty claim cause the lower unit went out. He even told me he had order the unit. This was on a Friday. Next Tuesday I got a call with him saying that Mercury siad if they seen anything wrong they won't replace it under warranty. I understood that. So after I told him I had insurance he said to call them and we could try and have both mercury and the insurance pay." twice would be better" I didn't like that idea. I went home made a call and claim to the insurance company and they said it would be covered and all they needed was estimate. So the insurance company contacted St. Tammany marine and the owner faxed over the cost for them to replace it. $5939.56 After I got the call about my check being in the mail I called ST.Tammany marine and told the the money was on its way. Well he never order the unit like he said he did a week ago and told me he was going to have it ordered and it would be there by Tuesday. I called Tuesday night no unit came in. Weds. night I called back the unit had just got there and he told me they would be putting it in that night. He was going to call me when it was done might be Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon still no call. I called him and he said oh its done. So I go and pick up my boat and bring in the money $5939.56. When I was done counting out the money they tell me its $5998.65 almost $60 more then what he told the insurance company. He said I could call them and get the difference from them he forgot about the hub and washier then walked off on me. I told the lady how i was not happy and this will be the last place I ever go again due to the lies and ways they rip you and insurance or warranty places off. My unit at 3 other place was $4800.00 he charge $5231.00. His wife heard me and went and told him about what I had said. He then came back and got in my face telling me if I have problems say it to his face. I was ticked off and jump back and unload on him and his ways. even told him if he wouldn't have walked off on me I would have told him then. I also told him how i was going to report to mecury his cocky way and how he wanted to rip them and a insurance company off. He told me not to say another word to his ladies and walked off. I had the wife finish paying the bill and walked outside to get my truck and hook up the boat. He was outside telling his other employees " This M-FER, A-Hole is Witching over $60.00 and I could go F- myself. I walked back there and ask why he could say that to my face and he walked off. When he went inside he tells everyone another headache gone. My wife and kids where standing right there. I hooked my boat up and went back inside to get my paper work he never gave me back. I asked for my warranty paper work back and he made a copy and won't give it back to me. Smiled and said I need it Just Because... I have never meet someone so rude and wouldn't recommend anyone using them. There was more Lil issues then this but I promise I wasn't happy with anything. I made them give me my lower unit back and all the parts well i was missing a few of them. I will be calling Mercury very soon. The man was cocky in front of my kids and wife. I was close to removing his head...lol Just played the better man of the two.
