thanks Doug, but I am tired of dropping money in it to try and correct the problem, spent over a grand so far with no improvements. The boat has a "hook" in it and it cannot be corrected. I cannot get on plain no matter what I have tried. I have ran out of things to do and I have gave up/can afford to dump money into it anymore. I appreciate everyone's help that have tried to get it running right, but the issue cannot be resolved. I have called express directly and they pretty much say that I am screwed. Just keep yalls eyes out!

The pic looks like a nice boat. It also has wood, unlike the mid 2000 models that went to all fiberglass. Maybe get the serial number on the engine and get someone to run it's history. Do a compression test also.
Good luck with the boat hunt,

    Ronnie

From everyone I know, the 99 and 00 Opti's are motors to stay away from. They call them "Opti-Pops" for a reason. They didn't have all the bugs worked out of the electronic injection system yet.

Here are a couple I found just playing around. They all look good, but remember, for your price range, you can get a small boat and get more bang for the buck. Just have a mechanic check the motor before you buy.

Also remember, no matter WHAT kind of boat you buy, you're going to have SOMETHING go wrong with it. It's just the nature of the beast, dude. I like my Xpress in that it will NEVER have a rotten floor or transom. Yes I have a pad problem, but I'm slowly repairing it. But I can still fish out it while I'm in the process of working on it. You have hull trouble with a glass boat after a stump, and you'll be out of a boat for a while. I don't know about you, but just about everywhere I fish has stumps.

Jacob i believe your issues can be solved with some tinkering and know how. i think chad is right you need an assortment of props, some jack plate wrenches , atleast 2 people so one can keep backin the trailer in and out, and time!

    Re: Boat shopping agian.... (DOUGMCGEEPUMAFTD)

I am going to meet up with chad tommorow and we are going to see what we can come up with. If we can fix it, I am going to keep it bc I like the boat, and the motor is strong. We are going to try and get the hooks out and see what happens. I know its the hooks that are keeping me down and we are going to try to remove them with different options............Ill let yall know the outcome.

    Re: Boat shopping agian.... (fishnhunt)

i personally believe proping and engine height is more the problem than the small demples you have posted of. Ask pro xs skeeter the way he has tortured his and it keeps going. I think you have to have real expectations also. you cannot expect it to run like a glass boat cause no matter who says what it aint gonna happen. I personally think at best you have a 58-62 mph ride and that is what you should be aiming for. Like i said ask randall as he has much more experience than me with the xpresses. I think you should try if you havent a 23 tempest and i am not sure what you have tried yet but that is what i would want to start with. what props have you run and some numbers what is your jack plate height? give me some numbers.

    Re: Boat shopping agian.... (DOUGMCGEEPUMAFTD)

I am currently running a 23 tempest prop....I went to bo's and he gave me some props to run and nothing worked. He then put a straight edge on it and said I am pretty much screwed bc my pad was hooked.......Me and chad are going to try and get them out tom. and test it out....I am running the correct prop, but due to the hooks in my pad I cant get on my pad. all I want out of this boat is 60mph at least. I am only getting 50 due to me plowing through the water
