2005 250HPDI Throttle Issue

Been trying to troubleshoot this motor all year.


Had it on the computer the other day.
Only hitting 5550RPMs


Throttle would only go to 73%. 90 being the max
TPS said 3.98 volts. 4.5 being the max


They confirmed somehow that the hotfoot is opening up the plates all the way, but manually pushing on the throttle linkage pushed it to 82% on the computer.


I am up in Canada, and there computers were down, and they didn't know how to proceed. Something to do with the yellow paint on the screws for setting the linkage. They didn't want to adjust anything until they had some more info.


Anything from you guys that I could pass along would be a big help Im sure.

It sounds like the throttle cable could be adjusted a little bit - but you won't ever get it to read 90 degrees. I think upper 70's to low 80's is fairly normal as far as the throttle opening goes. And the tps should read anywhere from 4.1 to 4.3 at wot.
I am assuming you have played with your engine height and props and all that already?
Does the engine cut-out or miss? Does it run fine other than just not turn enough rpm?
There could be several things that need to be checked depending on what other symptoms you are having. i.e. fuel system, ignition, boat set-up, condition of engine.

It runs great, gets to 5500 instantly and then just sort of stops there. Fuel pressures are all good. The boat used to turn way higher RPMS. It's as if something has come out of adjustment
