Lower Unit water inlet screen

I recently had to replace my lower unit gear case on my 1998 225 Vmax. The new (Yamaha) lower units water intake is a couple of inches lower than the origional gear case and the old water intake screen will not fit the new lower unit. The intake is lower but not any further forward on the gear case. The old intake is on the flat upper portion of the lower unit and the new intake is lower near the rounded part of the gear case. I need to know what year/model screen to order. Any help?....................Al

Found the answer. The replacement unit is a 2004 design. Have ordered a water screen for a 2004 225hp...........Al
