Thinking of starting a Team Trail next year

Guys, I am thinking about starting up a Team trail next year and wanted to know who might be interested. Now, here is my vision: I am wating to do something that is not expensive, say $50 per boat and $10 Big fish, and 100% payout, something that is more laid back and fun and not ultra competitive, shorter fishing days, 1 tourney a month( no fishing the same place twice or members vote on location before tourney ), and maybe a "Classic". It will be more about fellowship and growing the sport than making money and getting sponsors on your shirt. I have done the later and I am burned out on it, and I have lost friends along the way because of it.

    Ideas or thoughts?

That would sound ideal to me. I've tossed the idea around about joining a club but i just want to fish and not have to worry about all the junk that comes along with it. Lord knows that i can't catch fish either. Are you looking to fish around your area or state wide? That would be the only thing for me, traveling all over. I might be interested. Keep in mine that i sponsor myself.

I' m definitely interested. I also thought about the whole club thing this year, but I rather fish with the same partner and try to win a little money!!! I'm in Lafayette, but would definitely be up for fishing Toledo, Red River, Caney or anywhere for that matter!

I'm sure glad you are thinking more about it now! Seems like out talks are now sinking in some... There would be a lot of folks that would enjoy this type of trail,,,,, We all know that it takes a lot of money these days to travel to fish a big money trail, plus all the pressures! A fun filled trail with small fee's would help offset the cost of fuel & other cost for the teams/friends that would fish this new trail......
It would be like a Mini Rally every month for most of us!

I'd do it but I won't be able to fish them all, would have to take it on a day to day.

Me, too. I'd have to fish at least one just to put on an exhibition on the proper use of Ghetto Jewelry.

I'd be IN. I probably could not fish every event, but the majority for sure.

One of the things I didn't particularly care for with some other bass clubs is that they would have a meeting the week of the tournament to decide where to fish. I think this should be decided way in advance so everyone knows...and then everyone can just meet at the decided launch on tournament-day. Makes things much easier in my opinion.

But I'd be interested in fishing in this type of trail...keep us posted on the details please...

We will keep everyone posted as we plan everything out...
maybe the small tx. fee's will help detour some of the expenses and help other weekend teams who can't afford to fish the bigger high dollar trails.........

Keep the ideas coming guys, but please keep in mind that we are looking at this to fun, first and foremost. One of the things that Ricky and I are keeping in mind is we really want this geared toward the real weekend fisherman.

Would that be the REAL weak-end fisherman, like me? I seem to be a better guide than fisherman. Everybody I have tag along outfishes me.

I'm not into the Big compition thing. Anyway, had another thought, looks as thought a lot are down in the south. Fishing down there would be tough for some like me up here. I was thinking if they had enough from up here there could be a split trail, northside / south side. then maybe a final with everyone together. Just another idea to add.

Dang Alan, i fish by myself, no one likes me and you are a weakend fisherman. We have a few things in common.

Alan, maybe we need to team up, then we would both be in the same boat....

That's what we want out of this team trail, some good ole guys/gals that would rather fish for the fun of it and enjoy everyones company!

And YES, it's for the "WEAK-END" fisherman.....

I'm looking forward to helping Rebel this get from the drawing board to the tournament waters! And yes, we need to make a couple of them on the Red river so our northern teams are not left out and then maybe those teams will be willing to travel south a few times too!

    Re: (fishin couillon)

Hell, I'd team up with Coullion or Ricky anyday! I ain't skeered!!

But I'm afraid I already have a ready made partner. And at 14, he already outfishes me on a fairly regular basis.

    Re: (fishin couillon)

I think that we should split the tourneys up as far as where they are, this would give folks, like me and others, a chance to learn more places to fish and how to fish them. By doing one a month and trying to plan it right, the low entry fees will offset the travel cost to for the guys down south to go north and vice verus. For example, we could do 3 or 4 tourneys north of I-10 and the same south of I-10. I think to start, we need to stay in 6-8 tourneys range with a "classic" in the Fall.

See, that is something else Ricky and I are looking for as well, getting kids involved in our sport.
