I fished Verret yesterday and finally found the grass I have been looking for. It was a tough morning and didn't catch my first fish until around 9:30 but ended up with 6 keepers(all released to fight another day) which the best 5 went around 10-11lbs. I wasn't in the tournament but after seeing the winning weights I would have done fairly well.
If was entered in the tourny I probably wouldn't have caught anything!

We fished verret caught 35-40 keepers nothing over 2.5 lbs. everybody including us had been on big fish but thet all dried up. but it worked out when i was saying i thought it would take 20+ to win i was on about 16-17lbs. Well 16.62 won it and we came in 14th with 11.23.Cant even say we could have done alot differently. We caught the fish we had been on and the size wasn't there today! I would like to say congrats to WILLIE CROUCH FOR HIS 10,000.00 WIN!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN !!!!!!!

Yeah we caught 2 lb fish all day long just nothing any bigger!
Damn, I would have bet my house that a 20+lb stringer was gonna take it.

...and I'm glad some of my buddies didn't do well...it means I didn't miss anything. I know, that's wrong.
I had to work on the farm today, so it was better to get some work in instead of burning all kinds of fuel. I knew Willie was on them, and I a good feeling he would pull it off knowing what he has been catching them on.
he did the job today when nobody's big fish bit. I really am shocked that 16.62 won it and 4.62 won 1000.00 big bass i would have bet money it would take 20+ and 5.5+ big fish. oh well off to bruin next weekend!
Yeah, I thought it would be around 20 today also, but with fishing you can never tell. 2 more weeks, and I am off to Fork for 7 days. Hope they are right when I get there.
Man them Couch's have been on a roll this year or what? They won our open with 16+ & Big Bass. I heard they won Ascension's tx + some others as well. I know both father & son have put in their time over the years and it is paying off for them BIGTIME. They make a great team. I can't wait until I can share my boat with my son and be competitive. Hats off to Willie Sr. He raised his son right.
