    1990 pro 50 2 stroke, poor aceleration

Motor is new to me this season, idles nice on hose, starts easily, hot or cold, has fresh plugs. Hesitation when trying to get on plane. When at idle in gear, at 800 rpm in water, pulling either top 2 plug wires will cause stall, bottom wire has no effect. Only see a stong blue spark occasionally on that one .
Removed plugs, top 2 have light brown porcelain with some black on outer metal, bottom plug is wet with fuel.
I'm thinking coil is N/G. Thanks MartyD

I am curious too. I am having similar problems.

New coil came from boat parts.net , seems to be resistor wire, has double the resistance of the old ones, will this be ok to use? Thanks MartyD

Check out the carbs first. A needle may be sticking. If you have fire at all plugs, CDI is good.
If it's got resistor style plug caps do an resistance check on them
pull the carbs off, clean them, look at the needle and seat in number 3, chunk of dirt, hair, hose, or whatever is holdin the needle open
Your fuel pump is leaking, $10.00 for a diaphragm. Pump the bulb, I'll bet it never gets hard
could the lower carb float be stuck open and flooding then fouling the lower cylinder out?

you need an inline spark gap checker hooked up between the plug and plug wire to see if it is firing under load.

You can also pull all the plugs and put a pencil in the lower cylinder hole and slowly rotate the motor flywheel clockwise until the piston comes all the way up and pushes the pencil out to the outmost point. Make a mark on the top of the flywheel in line with the timing mark pointer for timing the motor (3rd cylinders top dead center aligned with pointer). Now put the plugs back in and put a timing light on the lower plug wire. Start the motor and watch the timing light as that cylinder fires through all ranges. if the electric drop out or are erratic you may have a bad pack
Thanks guys, I'm still working on it. Plugs have been changed, coil secondarys are 3.2k ohms like spec. Pulled flywheel cover, flywheel has 3 paint marks, timing light hits one on every plug. I'm checking timing at idle ,in gear, tied to dock.
I going to start on fuel system, it just struck me that I never have to hit choke button to start cold

Problem fixed, # 3 float would not shut, debris inside. Don't ask me how it got past the filter. MartyD
