    Does all V-Max EFI's have a 2-3 second delay?

I have a 2001 250 V-Max EFI. When I punch the Hot Foot to the floor at take off it has a 2-3 second delay before it finally reacts to the full throttle. Can you correct this problem? Is it normal?

    I would check the TPS.

I agree, check the TPS. That is too long. When I hammer mine to get up on plane in shallow water, it responds almost instantly and I need to hold on.

Ok, I done a link and cink. Everything there was fine. When I checked the TPS it was reading 0.73 V. The book says it needs to be at 0.48-0.52 V. Is that enough to make it delay? I will not get a chance for a couple of days to try it out on the water cause of my kids play ball four nights a week. I'll report the results then.

    Thanks

More than enough. Them puppies are sensitive. They really need to be in spec. Do it over and over until you get it right. At the least, that will be taken out of the equation.

Ok, I have done this over and over still has a delay. When I get set the tps to .50 volts with butterfly closed then set the idle at 750 rpm the tps reads .74 volts. Does this sound right? Its like when I had a old chevy truck when I was younger and took the breather off and turn the lid upside down then screwed it back down. Then when you put it to the floor it would hesitate for a second or two then start hauling or at least it sounded like it was.

Your TPS sounds right. You can also watch with a multimeter to see what your TPS reads as you push on the accelerator. At WOT it should be at least 3.9 volts on that motor.

That engine should be instant in throttle response. It might be worth checking fuel rail pressure via the schrader valve on the rail.

What is your o2 sensor reading?
How are your fuel lift pumps?
What are your WOT RPM's like, are there any other problems.

Re: Does all V-Max EFI's have a 2-3 second delay? (ghind)

Well, the volts at full throttle is 6.20. Is that to high?
My rpms at WOT is 5500. It has always been that.
I will have to check out the other readings after the weekend. Got to go fishing Saturday or I will have a mental breakdown.

    Thanks,

Storm22 had that sort of high reading, replaced the TPS and mota was all better. 6+ volts is too high........

What is a fair price to pay for a sensor?

OK, Replaced sensor. Set it at .52 volts and now at WOT it reads 5.7 volts. When I idle it at 700-800 rpm it is idling ruff and want stay running very long. Still have the doggy hole shot. It sems to be getting to much air or fuel when I drop the hammer down.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
    O2 sensor?
    Low pressure diaphrams?
    High Pressure?
