Well, let's see......Has ANYONE ever blown an engine using Super Tech (Wally World) oil and it was determined that it was the oil's fault???
As long as it is rated TCW-3 it is ok to use. However, if you can't sleep at night worrying about it, then use the 30 dollar a gallon stuff.

Well, I've been to Houston and saw the bottling lines for antifreeze and oil. The lines all use the same oil but each brand has its own dye and in very few instances, extra ingredients. For example, the antifreeze line had 5 different bottles ..Prestone, Autozone, Riley's, etc and only 1 had added ingredients!
So, in a nutshell...if it meets or exceeds the recommendations of the manufacturer, it is ok and if the engine blows, it will still be covered.
I personally use Penzoil XLF ($10-11) and Lucas gas treatment and have not had a single issue in 10 years. In fact, I have used the Walmart super tech also..and may go back to it if gas gets pricey again.
I run Yamalube. However, it is not the best by any means. Did anyone see the test B&WB did a while back? The corrosion protection from Yamalube was amongst the worst of the bunch that was tested. I had a Rude at the time so it didn't matter to me at the time. It is very disheartning now. I think Penziol ended up being the overall winner but don't quote me on that.
I say feed it what its been drinking, especially an older motor. ANY TC-W3 should work just fine and yes I would do it on a new motor. TC-W3 is the legal loophole you need for warranty coverage for an oil related failure.
