    Super Tech 2 Stroke Oil

I know it's the Wal Mart brand and I've never tried it but I am curious if anyone is running it. It's so much cheaper per gallon than all the others. $10 per gallon compared to $20+ on all the others. Anyone running it? It looks like it exceeds all specs, but sometimes I'm just leery of buying something so cheap. Kind of a you get what you pay for thing.

The price of a new 200 vmax makes 20 dollars a gallon look cheap.

Is it TCW-3 rated? If so it will be fine and your Yamaha owners manual says that as well!

Personally if I was going to switch oils from the Yamalube it would not be the cheapest oil found at Wallyworld. My decision would not be based on whose is cheaper when you’re talking about, in many cases, a 10-20k engine. Since you’re talking about a 2003 engine it appears its living a happy life on what it is drinking. I would stay with it. For 10 bucks IMO it ain’t worth it. There are better oils than Yamalube but in most cases you’re going up in price.

You said it yourself.. “You get what you pay for”

$10.00 oil compared to a $5,000.00 rebuild. Retry the math is there a real savings?

I know you are always taking a chance with these kinds of things. It is TCW-3, and the manual says it's fine to run any TCW-3.

I just wasn't sure if this oil had different additives. I'm sure not all oils are alike and just wondered if it's that much different.

I think so. Would you rather be fishing with 40 dollar oil or be setting at home with the boat in the shop. I would rather be fishing.

I have heard of too many companies cutting quality to fit into the margin requirements to do business with Walmart. Too many times the quality suffers just to get the product on the shelves, especially in big box stores like Walmart.. Not saying there is a problem with the oil in question from Walmart, who knows maybe it is better than Yamalube or any of the MFG’s oil. I personally would not feel comfortable pouring any oil into my outboard purchased from Walmart.

I guess you could allways just use the trolling motor. If you caint afford anything more than super tec oil you dont need to be buying boat gas.

I know several captains that run SuperTech in big saltwater rigs in florida that run 40-50 miles a trip WOT 3-5 days a week and have never had a problem running this oil. Its been tested and meets the minumum oil requirements. I have ran it my 50 hp yamaha for a couple years, never had an issue. If I wasnt sold on the Full synthetic, thats what I would be running. I know tons that run it and I have never heard of a failure. Personally I think Yamalube is over priced and over hyped. When I ran it in my 150 Vmax it fouled plugs and smoked excessively. Went to a Full SYN. and never will run a Dyno, or blend again. Its a world of difference.

I have 10 gallons of yamalube in the garage if someone wants a more exspensive oil i'll sell you it for $50 a gallon

I use yamalube because i can get it fairly easily locally. It's been used in my 05 225 from the start so that's good enough for me.
