Missing part...is it a trim tab?

2006 150 Vmax. Part is located on the lower unit directly above the prop. I just noticed there is a big hole there with a bolt hanging down. I looked a the yamaha parts page and am I correct by calling this a trim tab? Is it ok to use my boat with out it....have a tourny this weekend and might not have the part yet. SHould I just go to the dealer to get the part or is there a better alternative online. Thanks

Yeah, it's fine to run it without. But replace it when it comes in. They're like $15-$20 and you can get them at a dealer or any of the online Yammie dealers. I even saw them brand new on ebay the other day.

+1 esoxfly, then use red loctite. I lost 2 before I started using locktite. One of the lost ones made a nasty ding in my prop.....

make sure the prop wont hit the new trim tab my old yammy prov 150 witha 26 pitch prop it had to be removed. But by saying the bolt is still there im guessing you was running the tab already so yeah its no big deal bolt up a new one

They actually sell one without the "fin" sticking down. They are also sacrificial anodes to help with preventing corrosion. That might be the only real reason you need one.
