When I turn the key off the motor slowly runs for a few seconds sputters and then shuts off.I relaced the o2 sensor last year,fuel pumps last year and just did the spark plugs. The last time it did this i relaced the fuel pumps and it quit.The motor is 1999 225hp Vmax0x66. The original fuel pumps lasted 6 years and these are only a year old,hhmmm.
I adjusted the Throttle position sensor also,this gives me fits because I go by the book on doing it and it may be the problem also.
Wow...that's crazy. What about if you pull the kill switch? Does it continue running. That could be very bad...
Sounds like the switch is bad.It may have moisture in it from being wet and some corrision has started,Thats why it only does it every now and then.I dont think it has anything to do with the work you did to it.If its not the switch then something else got wet maybe on the motor.I had a 99-255 Ox66 and that happened to me and yep it was the switch.
That sounds like my buddies 78' Ford truck. He has to turn it off in gear so it will shut off, if he doesn't it will run for about 10-15 sec before shutting down.
I have a 1999 225 vmax OX66 also and it does the same thing when I turn the key off. Runs about 3-5 sec before it cuts off. Let me know if you figure it out.
