It's cheap insurance. I added one to my boat this fall after talking with a few people. Total install cost is under $100.

i got one and i think its a good idea
I think you already have your answer, but I'll just echo what's been said. They're cheap insurance.
And, Yamaha recommends a 10 micron filter/seperator....but that's for the sake of the injectors...your motor is carbed right?

IMO, the fuel/water seperator/filter is a must...period. especially with the potential mess that ethonal blended fuel can cause since it does not play well with moisture.

+1.
Guys, I just found out this weekend that my 06 225 already has one installed. Just bought the boat and dont know how long its been on it.
Anyone know were to order the yamaha filter?
Thanks
I get mine from the Yamaha dealer down the road. It ain't got to be THE Yamaha seperator, but needs to be 10 micron...maybe a Raycor. West Marine or Boater's World should have them, but don't know if they'd have the Yamaha variety.

I have yet to put one on since I still buy gas that has NO Ethanol...We still have several stations around here that have 100% gas. Until they are gone, I will wait.
Not sure about where you live but in Louisiana there is no law that says the gas stations must post that they are selling ethanol gas or not.I think the Dept of Agriculture was trying to change that law but not sure it went through or not. With the amount of E-gas thats out there these days it would be some cheap insurance to go ahead in just install one anyway![]()
Agreed. And you don't have to have ethanol in your gas to get water in your gas, let alone dirt, grime or graudu.
