    F150 Fuel Filter Change

    .
Anyone know how to change the fuel filter on my 06 Yamaha F150 TXR

Looks simple enough, but if it simply unscrews, it is on very tight and I don’t want to break it at the bracket where it mounts. Also there is a wire going into the bowl from the bottom. No idea what it’s for. Does it detach or just twist up as the bowl unscrews, (if it unscrews). Anyone done this before?

Mine is an 04 F150 and I recently took mine out. I went ahead and removed the screws and pulled the rubber hoses off after removing the zip ties that secure the rubber hoses. My cap was on very snug. It helped to have the assembly off of the engine so I could bet a better grip on the cap as to not damage anything. I used new zip ties to secure the hoses back onto the filter cap. After you have changed out the filter and reassembled the filter and put the hoses back on, check to make sure that your zip ties are on correctly by pumping the primer bulb. If it starts to leak around the tip of the hoses, adjust your zip tie by sliding it back a little on the hose. Really a simple procedure. Be carefull not to rupture the hoses when removing the zip ties.

Thanks guys, Think I will go ahead and unbolt it to get a grip. Yamaha mechanic told me that there is a Yamaha tool that fit the indentations on the top of the bowl to break it loose.

The special tool is known as a spanner wrench. Wrapping the nut with a thick rag and using a large pair of pliers will probably do the trick. It shouldn't take much force to break it loose.
