    PWC/Jet Ski

    Hello everyone.
My wife has told me that I am interested in a pwc/jet ski. I don't have much knowledge regarding PWC's. I am told I am looking for a 3-4 seater. Can any of you offer an opinion on Make/Model?? Thanks in advance.

When it comes to selection, it all depends on what you're going to use it for. The 3-seaters are great for families, and if you plan to do any skiing the extra length is definitely a plus...a skier can't cut very hard with the shorter ones, the skier will actually pull the back end in the direction of the cut! Of course, the bigger the jetski the more "sportiness" you lose, much like in motorcycles. Motor size is a factor as well, a bigger motor will pull a skier out a whole lot easier than a smaller one.

Reverse is a must - it makes docking easy and helps control your low speed when approaching a downed skier.

I grew up on 3 seaters.

Had an brand new 89 yamaha waverunner III, then bought a brand new 95 sea-doo GTX to go with it.

After 1 year, the GTX burnt out a piston. The sea-doo was junk compared to the yamaha in both quality and workmanship. Sold it after the repair and bought a new 96 Yamaha WaveVenture 1100. Then sold the 89 Yamaha to buy a new 97 Yamaha WaveVenture 1100. As I got older we sold off the 96, but I still have the 97 and it looks and rides just as good now as it did then, which is a testament to the quality of yamaha jet-skis.

When it comes to jet-skis, Yamaha is king. Sea-Doo has some great marketing with plenty buying into it, but they just don't stack up to the Yamaha. Of course, to each his own, but my experiences make yamaha number one.

Go see the boys in Kirby Super Sports in Chanute. Best deal I ever got was there. They had some older model, but new, Honda Aquatrax F12X's that are awesome! I've owned 2 SeaDoos and I'll never own another if I can help it. The engines fall apart even if you take care of them.
