    Looking at purchasing a Bike?

Well since we have decided to retire here in OK (at least for a few years) I have been thinking of buying a bike. Something I've wanted since I was a kid. HD all the way and something in the softail family for sure. I was looking at a Deluxe, but I really like the Rocker C. Just a badass looking bike to me! It's HD's only chopper inspired production bike. What do you guys think?

    This (Rocker C 2008 model)

    or
    Softail Deluxe

Ask yourself a couple of questions that I failed to ask myself when I commissioned the build of my soft tail.

What will you use this bike for? or How far will you ride?
Personally I love my bike, but it's not built for comfort. I couldn't ride cross country and thoroughly enjoy it, unless I had someone in a chase vehicle carrying my change of clothes, etc. To that end, I would like to have a cruising bike such as the Deluxe.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Well you've kind of hit the nail on the head with my concerns. With the shape my back is in I won't be riding any bike for more than a couple of hours tops in any direction. Obviously I wouldn't be riding a rigid framed bike any distance. If I ever went to Sturgis or Daytona I would be towing them so I don't think either of the choices would be too bad in that respect. The Ol lady will rarely be on the back either so if she decides to ride she can sit on a piece of plywood for all I care. JK!!

How does this sound Bob? I'll buy the Deluxe and trade your for your bike?

Bob hit the nail on the head.

I really like the chopper style bikes, and they are great for friday evening bar hoping. but when i got serious about putting some miles on a bike i had to buy myself a road bike.

It took me about two minutes to learn the joys of floorboards over pegs, heel / toe shifter, windshield, hard bags, highway pegs, adjustable shocks and a comfortable seat built for two.

also should look into a motorcycle riders safety course..

The Rocker definately has the "cool factor" to it. But, you say your not going to take any long trips now but wait until summer comes and you get to ride it for awhile. All of the sudden you start hearing "road trip".

I would go with the Deluxe for the simple fact if you have back problems its gonna be a bit more comfy even if it is only a 2 hour ride. Floor boards are a bikers best friend.

I know your looking at Softails but you might check out a Road King and also a Streetglide.

Check out the Fatboy too, its a softail and is alot like the Deluxe. Also if you get a new one such as a deluxe or Fatboy or something go ahead and have them put on the handle bars that are on a Heritage Softail. Those are comfy and really save your back. I'm thinking of putting on some 14 or 16 inch ape hangers on mine this winter.

When you get one let me know and I'll ride down and see ya. We can cruise over to Arkansas to the Blues, Bikes and BBQ ralley.

I have been around bikes my whole life and have worked for HD of Salina for 5 years now imho if you want a sportier looking bike with the ability to still travel look at a dyna much better ride than the softail to me atleast the touring line would be my next choice and the extra money is worth every penny whatever you chose HD is forsure the right choice
