2003 Yammie 150 carbed motor question

Im sure one of you has the answer to this. Was out on Brothers boat saltwater fishing and his motor was running fine until you went over 4000 rpms. Then after about 30 secs it was coughing like it wasnt getting the proper fuel.every time I squeezed the ball and forced gas into the carb it would run great.Went back to the house after spending all day working on it and still the same problem.
Heres what we did:changed the water seperator/the motors fuel filter/new fuel lines/new ball/made sure the gas tanks vent tube was clear/change the vent anti siphon/pulled the pick up tube and made sure that was clean/changed the valve on the gas tank where the pickup tube connects.Took the boat out and after a minute running at 5200 rpms the motor acted up again.Well since Im no mechanic and felt bad for him after I made him spend all the money on replacing everything I hooked up a seperate gas tank(Duh should have done that first)
and ran the boat and still bogging at anything above 4000rpms.So I am convinced its got to be the motor right? If anybody has any ideas I would appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance Mike

looks like you're own to the fuel pumps or carb cleaning.

Yep, I'd check the fuel pumps. There's a bunch of info on this board about how to check them.

Re: 2003 Yammie 150 carbed motor question (wamma)

I just got my 04 150 VM carb back from the dealer. Mine was acting as if it were flooding with fuel between 2600-3000 rpms. It idled a little rough too, but ran fine on top end. Coming off top end, between 2600-3000 again it acted as if flooding out again.

They cleaned 3 carbs and put two fuel pump kits in. I had read a lot about the fuel pumps online and how they were very suspect for this type problem. When I calle dthe dealer, the first thing they asked was what was the year model and after I described the symptoms, he guessed it would be the diaphram in the fuel pmupms.
