    yamaha motors?

I have always owned either a mercury or evinrude. We are thinking about buying a g3 which comes with yamaha motors. I was just wondering what everyones views were on this kind of motors? I would like to hear some reviews about them

I like mine, only around 100 hours but have had no problems. Starts every time out on first turn of the key but does smoke some at start-up after sitting a while. It pops my G3 up on top of the water as soon as I hit the gas. WHich G3 are you looking at?

I have had one in-line 3-cylinder, and my last two boats have had v-6 Yamaha engines. I have been very satisfied with all of them.

    Re: yamaha motors? (basstrotter25)

I'm on my third Yamaha now. The first two were brand new and this one I have now was 18 years old when I bought it. I have had zero problems with any of them.

IMO Yamaha builds the most dependable motor on the market but you could probably find people just like me who have had the same success with other brands of outboards.

Bottom line with any brand of outboard: Take care of it and it will take care of you.

I have a 98 150 carbed motor. The only problem was from some bad gas. After I got it all ran through, no problems. She is a bit cold blooded, but most carbed motors are. You will not be disappointed.

Yamaha 4-strokes have the highest satisfaction rating of all outboards according to J.D. Power

Ahh yes, a Yamaha EFI 4-stroke. Quite possibly the greatest motors of all time. I hear they're considering repowering the USS Nimitz with a couple of those.

When you take ALL things into account.

    Build Quality
    Dependability
    Durability
Performance (speed, torque, hole-shot, ecconomy etc.)
    Cost (initial and operating)
Good Looks (at least with the VMAX series)
    Adaptability
    Sound
    Support

Yamaha covers the bases overall better than any other manufacturer.

    PLUS....we got Hydro-Tec, they don't!

I had an F115 for two summers and absolutely loved it for the time I had it! It was incredibly quiet, and great on gas as long as I stayed out of it. Even then it was pretty good. It was on a Skeeter SX180.

Maintenance isn't really a big deal like some people claim.
