    This will get ya!!!

I took Owen out ot Lake just West of Lincoln for Some Crappie/Bluegill.....he caught a couple small ones & lit his face up......but Dads face was not so happy.

In th middle of watching him & getting Snags loose.....there were guys jsut to the North of us Fighting a good fish.....he landed a Nice LMB.....Female full of eggs & runnig 4.5-5 lbs easy (wasnt close enough to tell but looked very decent fish).........he walks it over & puts it on his stringer

I could have said something but technically he was within his LEGAL rights to harvest that Bass.......even though he just stunned the population by a hundred or so(only a guess).

    Ryan -

How much different is that than tournament fisherman take a spawning female off the bed to weigh her in?

</TD></TR></TABLE>That's a good question, but a pre spawn fish that is caught during a tournament and released DOES have a chance of to spawn if it doesn't spill it's eggs in your livewell. Even if it doesn't spawn that year it still has a chance in the future. A fish put on a stringer and fried will NEVER spawn. Personally I don't target fish on the bed, but if you fish during the spawn you are inevitably going to catch some spawners. Sometimes they spawn deep enough that you can't see a bed.

well.............let me say this......they were not Bass fishing.....they were just there for a nice day & were cathcing everything that would Bite.....cat's, crappie & the Bass they caught.....they didnt care as long as it was legal size.

I agree the Spawn rate declines with a bass or any fish that is caught for that matter but there has not been very much Hard Scientific evidence to back that......sure sure we can find some rambling about it on the internet.....but I doubt you will find 100 pages talking about the exact same thing as well

I also know that people in this area have been complaining about how poor the Bass fishing is.....but in large the "people" in this area are not truly concerned about bass fishign but the "polls" show otherwise

It makes me queezy everytime I see someone keeping bass - even after the spawn...

Any other fish doesn't bother me....

I believe Gene at the Oklahoma dept. of wildlife said that only about 5% of fish need to spawn to maintain a health fishery.
