Going to have to remember that when you ask to borrow some of mine

They aren't designed for the suspended drop shot and probably provide little utility in that presentation. But when you fish it on the bottom, they will help you keep the weight on the bottom while the bait goes crazy from the slightest twitch. I have lipped some of those 5+'s off of those deep brushpiles at Mozingo to prove it even after they were pounded by deep cranks, shakey heads, carolina rigs, and football jigs.

Many folks probably thought Senkos, powerbait, Gulp, Rage Tails, Shakey heads, and Football jigs were fads also until they tried them.

    Time will tell my friend

No disrespect intended. I’m not following it? It says it’s a “remote control” for your lure, but it appears to be additional terminal tackle, unless I’m missing something. Please elaborate on how to use it and in what situations you would need or expect to use it. Thanks.

Re: Elite Series pro Randy Howell on the SWL Recoil Rig (Hydrilla Gorilla)

terminal Tackle is correct...it consists of a line lock swivel (V-shaped wire on one end of a barrel swivel) and a 10-inch Spectra™-wrapped elastic ballistic cords.

The swivel is place on the tag end of your line below the hook, the shock cord is placed in the V-shaped wire of the swivel which is perfectly suited to hold your SpecTastic™ shock cord without a knot. The Tag end of the SpecTastic™ shock cord is then tied in any drop shot weigth or placed in the V-lock of your drop shot weight.

Additionally, if you prefer barrel weights they have reusable Weight Wires that slide down through the barrel weight then you fold the wire back upon the weight. The barrel weight technique is a real time-saver in that it prevents most break offs as the weight gets stuck in the structure you only lose the weight and not any other part of the rig.

I have been using them for over a year and they do exactly what they are designed to do. They are not magic but they will get you more strikes in the toughest of conditions. They work not only on the deep verticle structure but I have used them flipping and pitching the grass on Smithville with a 4 and 5 inch senko with good results also.

Re: Elite Series pro Randy Howell on the SWL Recoil Rig (Lsto19)

Thanks for bringing up the Recoil Rig, Larry.

Personally, I don't mind if anyone calls it a fad. But if an he ignores it, he'll be getting beat by guys who fish the fad while he's still congratulating himself on being too smart to get hoo-doo'ed. Like his great-grandpappy probably said: "Newfangled horseless buggies... they'll never catch on. I'm stickin' with ol' Pete!"

A Recoil Rig isn't a lure. It's just another way to rig lures you already own. Trolling, swimming, Texas-rigging, Carolina-rigging, drop shot rigging.... at one time each rig was a new ways of presenting soft plastics Each has unique advantages and deficiencies. Recoil Rigging turns out to be more versatile and productive than most of the others. That's a big claim, but we can back it up.

Anglers who adopt each rig assemble the components... weights, special hooks, beads, swivels, and so on, and learn how to rig and adapt them to different situations. They learn where they work best and where they don't work so well. Same for the Recoil Rig. You'll need to pick up the SpecTastic ballistic cord, available only from Secret Weapon. The rest of the components you can purchase from us, which is convenient and will save you money, or shop around.

The "remote control for your lures" phrase just paints a mental picture. Because of the recoil action of the elastic cord between your weight and line, every twitch, vibration, or wiggle of your rod tip is mirrored by the lure whether it's 30 feet directly below the boat, under a dock ten yards away, hovering over a bass bed, swimming at the edge of an eddy below a bridge piling or positioned just under a floating milfoil mat. It allows the angler to keep the lure in one place while giving it life-like motion that attracts attention and triggers strikes.

I'll be happy to offer advice, answer questions, and tell you what I've learned first-hand from fishing these. One thing I won't do is exaggerate, manufacture claims, or mislead you.

We just posted some photos that explain how to rig this. http://www.secretweaponlures.c...g.htm

    Good fishing!

I know a guy who has won a bunch of money on the banjo minnow. No joking. It was his favorite lure. Only bad thing it was tough to hook a fish on.
