E-TEC Warranty, What is covered?

Where can I find out exactly what is covered under warranty? I looked at my info and on the Evinrude website but could not find what I needed.

I have a 250 E-TEC that goes into overheat mode when I go to WOT after I idle
for a period of time. Does not go into overheat mode at Idle or WOT only when I go from idle to WOT. I can slowly put the boat on plane from idle to WOT without any problems. I have had this problem from the first day on the water.
I took the E-TEC do a local dealer and just found out they found a small blade of grass in the thermostat area and they also found a cracked spark plug. They believe the grass was causing the overheat alarm problem.
I does not make sense to me that the grass would only affect water flow at the exact instant I go from IDLE to WOT. The dealer is telling me the Spark Plug is covered under warranty but the blade of grass in the thermostat is not.

If you go by the book no a piece of grass is not covered under warranty. BUT most dealers if they sold you the engine would overlook this. If his did not solve your problem find another dealer. Be sure to call BRP and tell them about it if it does not work. If it does work and the problem is solved then be happy they found the problem.

Have your dealer check his service bulletins as there was one that covered an overheat problem after idling a while. It seems that a few motors within a certain serial number range did not have a thermostat housing bleed hole drilled completely thru. It's a quick fix if your motor is one of those affected.
