Motor cowling

I have a 225 hpdi and just noticed a crack on each side in the same place on the cowling.My question is can i fix the cracked one or do i have to buy a new one??any advise would be greatly app...

Thanks i will contact my dealer and see if i can get it fixed or just try to keep it from runing further up..

Have you spoke with the regional Yam rep? Is it a defect? They may be able to do something for you as "good faith." The regional Yam man here was able to help me with a defective hood, support posts crumbled after a day on LOZ. That and 2 new Yam hats. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Do you go through yamaha's web page or is thier a number you can call??

Dude a friend of mine has the same crack... our dealer contacted Yamaha and they replaced his cowling no problem.

I talked to Yamaha direct and said that my motor just went out of warranty they also have no kind of recalls or problems of this nature..So i'm going to talk to my dealer here locally and try that route and if nothing their I might try a fiberglass place to fix it before buying a new one...Boy this sucks ..BAD thing is i didn't even hit nothing always has travel cover on going to and from just one day i go to clean it up and there they were CRACKS on both sides in same place..............

My latches came loose. The snall nuts (10mm) backed off. Caused the hood to flop up and down, crushed the supports. Yours sounds like a defect. If Yam wants good relationship in a tight market, they ought to make it right with you. Keep us posted on if or what Yam does for you.

My boat is at the dealer getting new electronics and a new oil pump from the service bulletin, Talked to them and they said they would look into it and see what they can get done...
