I have always had two strokes. I run 30 miles a day when fishing. What kind of mileage would I get running wot compared to a two stroke on a 19 foot boat?

At WOT, fuel comsumption will be very close, providing the 2 stroke is the HPDI. A carburated 150 will consume more than the HPDI and 4 stroke.
I have been running my F150 for over three years, and I am very pleased with my decision.

The F150 will surprise you on how will it perform. It will give the 2 stroke a run for the money, on some boats will out perform the 2 stroke.![]()

Fuel use will be about the same, but if you run a lot the two-stroke will use a lot more oil. I have a F150 and change the oil once a year. If you want a "hot rod" I would go with the two-stroke, if you want quiet, smooth, dependability go with the four-stroke. It also depends on the boat you are going to use it on. I love my F150, but it's no "hot rod."

My big concern is fuel. I met a guy yesterday at the boat ramp with a suzuki four stroke. He said he gets 30 percent better fuel economy. I find that hard to believe. I have a yamaha 130 and it has been very good. I am just thinking about the next year or two if I go to a 150, if it will be a yamaha four stroke.
I could believe 25 to 30 percent better economy if compared to a carbed 2 stroke. The modern EFI 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines are a big improvement over older technology. Up to the 150 hp range, price, performance, and weight are close when comparing modern EFI 2 strokes and 4 strokes.
Not having to deal with 2 stroke oil is a plus for me.

Better overall performance goes to the 2-stroke hands down IMO.
A few of us are running the F150 with very good performance results.

hello people, the 4stroke weighs about 100lbs more and has many more moving parts that need to be tended to on a regular basis. my vote is 2stroke. just my opinion. (go easy), Rick

The F150 does not weigh more than the HPDI 150. In fact, it is a few pounds lighter. As far as complexity, it is actually less complex than the HPDI. Keep in mind, my comments are between the HPDI 150 and F150. Longevity of a 4 stroke is also better. 4 strokes are not for everyone, but the F150 is quite a nice outboard.

Yamaha F150 (fourstroke) 466lbs
Yamaha 150 HPDI (2stroke) 468lbs

I'm not seeing anywhere close to 100lbs difference here.I think someone is repeating "hear say" and not doing their own home work.

At WOT they will probably be the same mpg. Tweaked just right I think it would run with a stock out of the box HPDI. Not sure about the others but I have out run a TR186 with 150 opti (not by much at all, it took a couple of miles) It's got a lot to do with setup. Most people don't have their boat set up right. Either hpdi or F150 will be a great motor. I don't like the messy oil to deal with. Price would probably make my decision between those two choices. Good luck.
If they had made a F250 that ran as good as the F150 and as fast compaired to a HPDI 150 I would have went with the F250

If you run 30 miles per day the 4 stroke is quite a bit cheaper to operate, An oil change and filter will run you about $35.00, that will be it for 100 hours. I run one on an Allison and have over 200 hours in the past year.
I can fix stupid
