    New Toy

Well i got my new laptop today. Oh Boy i love new toys !

Pretty much spent most of the day loading the company line software onto it. This is the 1st Vista Operating system in the building, and was really trying hard to hate it, but to be honest it's pretty slick stuff.

The desktop gadets are great, as soo nas a learn where all the stuff is (like i knew on XP) this should be easy.

Have noticed Vista is a resource hog, and some of out XP software don't work with Vista (Need to get a new version Symantec Antivirus, and new Mainframe emulation software) but so far i really like this

Let you guys know in week what i think then ....

I've got Vista on my laptop that I'm using as I type this... I still have XP Pro on my desk top. What I have found is that some of the things I use I cannot load on Vista, it just doesn't like it. My encryption tools, my camera software, and my mapping software to name a few

The Laptop has WiFi- but our internal IT Policy prohibits use on a WiFi - We have a hard ass security officer...

both mine have Vista, it's ok, there are some issues converting documents between the two. Especially if everyone else is using XP.

Watch sending out excel files, some XP's won't open the xlx file you must save it in the later version.

Damn Steve, you being hard on those old IT guys. It's you kids with new toys that scare us old guys. Ha, just giving you a bad time. I haven't allowed but a couple Vista machines on the network so far. You guys keep this thread going and I might learn something about it (Vista). If it had only come out a few years later I might have been out a here before I had to learn or mess with it. Like I told you this just isn't as interesting as it was 20 years ago. I would rather be fishing or at least thinking about it. Have a good one and will talk to ya later. Moragan
