It was a chant that started from a rock that was used to build homes in Lawrence called "Chalk Rock"...I saw the documentary on it a couple months ago...the owner of the home is the one who invited the chant...I don't remember all the detail.

If that is really true, thanks for the trivia info. That's awesome if I can now actually educate some KU fans about their own chant.![]()

If you really must know I'll tell ya.Back in the day an English Professor at KU suggested it to replace the Rah Rah cheer. Why? Because Rock Chalk ryhmes with Jayhawk. Now you know! Your welcome! I looked it up years ago when I was stationed at Riley. I didn't get it either. Could be an urban legend.

What I wan't to know is this. Does KU REALLY consider KSU their rivals? Before I moved to Kansas I always thought of Mizzou as KU's rival.
It's hard to call something so one sided a rivalry. If KSU could win one once in a while, then it should spark an intense rivalry. For now the only rivalry is the fact that it's an in state showdown.
The rivalry with Mizzou stems back from the Lawrence Massacre back in the mid 1800's more than anything else from what I understand.
