    Uh - oh....I am hosed....speedometer help 225 HPDI

I was cleaning some trash out of my low unit speedometer hole with a small drill bit (as I have done many, many times) and the drill bit broke.
I now have a plugged speedometer hole with wood and about 1" of 1/16" hardened drill bit.
Any suggestions as to how I can get this out?

if it isn't in too tight take a air hose and try to blow it out.

That reminds me I have wood stuck in mine.

I did that to my 150 VMAX. Never could get it out. Tried blowing and such but no luck. About the only sure way is to pull the lower unit. But do try the above suggestions first, you might get lucky and one will work. Eventually it will rust away depending on how much water gets in there.

I ended up moving the hose to an external pitot I mounted on the rear of the boat. It is actually more accurate running it this way versus using the hole on the motor. Right on with the GPS now where before I was 5-8 MPH faster than the GPS.

It's good and stuck, I guess I'll go to the external pitot tube as suggested.
I have a standard size one but it doesn't look like it gonna be long enough, they used to make a extra long one for drag boats and the like.
Know where I might find one?

Just get a GPS and never worry about it again. The GPS might hurt your feelings a little bit as stock speedos are highly optimistic, but then you don't have to worry about water lines into your boat and pitot that get broken off....

    Peace,

There is two places. One, the hose will be above the lower unit inside the plastic cover I believe it's a splice, second would be behind the speedo. OH just reread your post I'm not sure of the hose connects to the back of the speedo.

If you disconnect it at the lower unit try blowing from the intake hole, the hose is a larger diameter and will flow out easier.
