2003 250 ox66 starting problem

I have owned this motor about a year and havnt had the first problem, but now its getting a little hard to start. This has been going on about two weeks. use to you could pratically look at the key and this thing would fire right up. Now it will usually start pretty easy soon as you put the boat in the water and run perfect up the lake. After you are ready to make a move is when the problem is you crank it over 6-8 times and nothing then give it about half a pedal on the hot foot and it will crank a few times and fire up and will smoke like I have never seen one smoke in my life. I have already replaced my plugs and there is nothing visiably wrong. I wonder if I should take the motor and have the computer scanned or what. I will fix the problem myself just need a little place to start.

Sounds like a bad tps sensor or adjustment. There is no computer to scan on that motor.

O blown fuel pump diapragms

fuel pump diaphrams mine did the same thing.first start was great then the rest of the day would be a pain.replaced them now it starts perfect again

just want to thank everyone for the help and comments. I rebuilt my fuel pumps and fixed my problem thanks again
