    any coyote experts out there?

I thought that you Guys from Kansas might be able to answer a question about coyotes for me.

last week a friend shot an huge male coyote it weighed close to seventy pounds. After checking it out we realized that it had dew claws, we have been told that this is a hybred coyote/dog cross. Does the fact that it had dew claws mean that it is a coydog? There are also reports of timber wolves moving back into our area would a coyote and wolf interbreed?

70 pounds is a big Dog,, i would think if a yote or wolf was in heat and the other was around they would breed

Never really looked much at the coyotes we shot, we just left them laying where they fell..

Knowing dogs though, if the female is in heat, just about any breed of dog will mate with it. around here i would say a domesticated dog, but we don't have any wolves left

several years ago they were having a big yote contest at the fur buyers,, we won it with a 58 pound male yote,, got 50 buck for the hide and $1 a pound for the contest that helped the beer budget

70 lbs is an awful big coydog. I would have to think it was some sort of hybrid

I did some checking around and there is a family in the area that lets their shepards free range. looks like they might have had a crack at one of the oyes.
