Other than the fishing being so so Kansas is a great place to raise a family.

lakes are mostly small lakes but a lot of them BIG KANSAS DEER taxes suck, roads are some of the best you will find. you caught fish in kansas you caught fish anywhere
Cheaper to keep a kid in tourney fishing than paying attorneys to keep them out of jail !!
Settle on the East side of the state so that you can fish Missouri Lakes and skip the KS ones
don't go to Western KS is sucks

I will agree with that for the most part, but back in the late 90's, all the lakes out West were by far the best lakes in the state and we had it made in Salina cause they were easy for us to reach. 25 lb stringers were common at all of those lakes for a good spell, but the drought and subsequent fishing pressure changed all that. There are way more people over East, too, so those lakes endure intense pressure that make them tough for the average angler. I guess what I'm saying is I don't mind living centralized in the state, as I can reach anywhere pretty easy, based on where the fishing happens to be good.
Right now, it's not real great in any direction, so I guess if you did live East, it opens up the Missouri lakes.

Dont forget we have some of the hottest summers and coldest winters. I don't think you will find a better habitat to hunt the big white tails. Just don't tell anyone that I am tired of out of staters leasing ground here to hunt on.![]()

Colby, Garden City anywhere out there is great! Not many people, fishing pressure is non-existent (), pheasant hunting is great, big mule deer, close to Colorado, cost of living is cheap. Buy lots and lots of land and invite your buddies out from eastern KS to pheasant and deer hunt.
