    Depth Finders

I'm in the market for a nice console mounted depth finder and want to make sure I make the right choice.
(Brad- still got your finder mounted on the bow and its great )

Did some searching and like the Humminbird 787c2, opinions? It retails for $650 and I wouldn't like to go too much higher. GPS wasn't a necessity but I kind of like the thought of having it.

Casey, if your going to spend up to $600 on a fish finder, I think it would be silly not to have gps.

Agreed, $600-700 max for a depth finder/gps, mucho less for just a depth finder.

520C IMO is probably the best unit out there in that price range...Whatever you decide do not get an sonar/gps combo with an internal gps antenna if you plan to mount it at the console

    Re: Depth Finders (cgs2004)

Cablea's in kansas city has (had yesterday) about a dozen leftover LMS332's the were selling for something like $550..

I personally never thought color would be a big deal but i'll tell you now if you eveer get a color depth finder for the console, you will be looking to replace the bow graph soon with a color DF. Color is great !

Also in that price range you should be looking for something with a GPS system. - I recently bought the humminbird 797c2 SI - one word " LOVE-IT"

As soon as i can afford it i'll be replacinmg my lowrance 135 with a color model. (probably a hummnibird so i can link the two together).

I'm a fan of the color graphs too Those fancy side-imaging humminbirds would be nice... but I only have 1 wallet, and it ain't that big

Don't know if Lowrance still sponsors KBCF but members could get a nice discount buying direct through the federation rep. I bought a couple that way and saved almost $100 on my 480 at the time.
