    90 Four Stroke

I am currently shopping for an aluminum boat. There is a boat made here in Louisiana called CAJUN SPECIAL that I am looking at.The dealer/manufacturer deal strictly in Yamaha outboards. The boat is bulit similar to the Xpress X17.The boat is rated for a 90 and I was curious if there were any concerns or issues with the 90 4-stroke.This will be my first boat in a long while and will mainly be used in the Atchafalaya Spillway and the marsh chasing reds and specks.Any and all feedback/advice will be appreciated.By the way,is $1250.00 higher for the 4 stroke than the 2 stroke a good price?

The 90 hp 4 stroke is bullet proof. Yes, it is higher in cost and does weigh more. I am very happy with my decision to switch to a 4 stroke. The early 90 four strokes were carburated, but the late models are EFI. Depending on what 2 stroke you are comparing to, the EFI feature will cost more. The EFI on my F150 is great, and not having to deal with the 2 stroke oil is also.

It is EFI.The boat comes standard with the 90 yam 2 stroke, but I like the idea of not having to buy oil every trip.I also like the Fuel injection and the quick starts on cold mornings. The motor comes with an aluminum prop,is it worth it to buy the Yamaha stainless prop? I am mainly gonna be just fishing and I dont think this boat will be a speed demon, although I would like it to perform up to its capabilities.

I am not up to date on the available Yam props for the F90. As for the cold starts, the EFI is absolutely awesome. One bump of the key and we are pulling off of the trailer. The wife and I still get a kick out of most peoples responses at the ramp.

Man, you would love that 4 stroke. I have the same one as PSM does, the F150. I haven't been able to go out in my boat for over 2 months b/c I have been very busy and last Saturday we put in at False River. One bump of the key and she was purring like a VERY QUIET kitten. They do cost more, but there is no oil to buy, no smoke to gag you and everyone around you, and best of all, you can barely hear it running. Also, those Cajuns Sp. are nice boats. I see them all the time around here. If I ever sell my fish/ski Skeeter, I am going to seriously consider a nice tin boat. I have always liked them.

I really like the Cajun Spec too.I like the idea that they are made right here.If i have a problem they dont have to call the factory or anything like that.Ive looked at every boat dealer here in town and they have been the nicest guys by far.I am looking forward to the 4 stroke,it will be a new adventure for me.Thanks for yall's input,I will let you know how it goes.

http://www.cajunspecialboats.com The one I am considering is the new Sport 176 which isnt on the website yet.It is similar to the Xpress X17,it has a 90 inch beam and is rated for a 90 hp. .125" aluminum construction, all welded...They have several colors available at no extra charge.

Have you also considered the G3 boats by Skeeter? I looked at them alot before getting mine. They sell them at any Skeeter dealer like Cajun Outboards in Brusly and Gulf Coast Boats in Lafayette, which is where I got my boat this year. And because they are owned by Yamaha, like Skeeter, all of the outboards are Yamaha. Just a thought. Here's a link. http://www.g3boats.com/

yeah my neighbor has one that he got at Recreational Specilaties on Greenwell Spgs Rd (the old Greenwell Spgs Marine) Ive looked at them but I am attracted to the rustic, homemade feel of the CAJUN.....I hear they are great boats though

Click on the link in the post above by nosaj2. The four strokes will definitely push a tin boat. Nice vid

I'd like to see a little higher resolution, but none the less, a cool video.

    Re: 90 Four Stroke (PSM207)

I love my F115! You probably want to go with a 19p Stainless prop on that 90. Especially if your fishin "the Basin" Aluminum prop will last about 4 minutes out there..LOL
A guy here has a 186 G3 with a F115 and he's running a 21, and smokes me pretty regular. Im running a 19 on my SX-180 and hit the limiter @ 6200. The G3 is a good deal lighter. If I ever decide to get out of the Skeeter, that G3 rig is on the top of the list.

Oh yeah, I forgot... I paid an extra grand just to get the four...
