Need Ideas for motor problem

Started yesterday and noticed the hammer 225 was running a little ruff. Ran for about 3 miles and it just shut down. At first I thought it was the kill switch. it shut down from full throttle to cut off. Waited and it started again, acted like it was flooded but it was running. Headed to the ramp, (Scared) and it shut down again. Got the trailer in the water and it started again. Put it on the trailer, tilted the engine up and in gear so I could clip the nose and noticed the engine sped up for about 2 seconds, and it did this twice. Could this be the fuel filter? Water Seperator? Fuel Pump? Please help. 2000 yahmaha

Sounds like the fuel pumps but could be the filter. I would change both.

I had similar problems a few years back.... run great no problems then shut off like you turned off key....would start right up again run for a while 3-5 min and die was able to duplicate it for the tec... we pulled on wires checked ign switch ran codes with no help....tec installed fuel water seperator filter in line on boat and problem was solved. hope that helps ya

had exact same problems with mine. turned out to be the three fuel pumps (old style diaphrams), also had the 02 sensor cleaned. seems to be ok for now

i had the exact same issue with my 150 HPDI Vmax, turned out to be 2 bad fuel pumps, runs like a charm now.
