Clinton / Hilsdale lake

Sorry guys but this has to do with fishing

Got some out of towners coming in for the Holiday--

They want me to take them out fishing.

Can't decide on Clinton or Hillsdale..

Sounds like the temp will be in the 60s and wind about 15mph out of the NorthWest..

Any Ideas / hot spot??

Thanks Rick

I've only fished Clinton a hand full of times and never caught any big fish. I'd go to Hillsdale if those were my only choices. What about LaCygne?

I had come to believe the bass fishing on Clinton wasn't so great, I'd choose Hillsdale.

Up the east side of the lake (Little Bull Creek?) theres a bunch of timber and some chunk rock banks along a roadside that I'd had some luck with. Theres also a nice little cove right by the state park ramp on that side that sure is fishy.

Good luck

Gardner Lake is an option too, its a 10 mph lake but has endless docks to throw at, last time I went I caught bass, crappie, perch, and saugeye

LaCygne is the one I was thinking of, too, esp. this time of year.

Wish I lived a little closer, I would love fishing those in the Winter.

If Lacygne isn't too far for him there's no way any other lake around those parts will beat it

Here is the fishing report from --11\8\06
La Cygne
largemouth bass
Good
12 - 24 inches
fish the riprap, surface plugs, minnows, soft baits, spinners, shad imitations,
Water levels are low use caution. Fishing is improving with the cool temperatures. White bass and wipers are up, watch for the gulls Anglers when fishing at the hot water inflow,or at the outlet gate at the dam,

Clinton 11\20\06
Crappie
Good
0.5 -1.5 lbs
Many limits are being taken, using jigs around brush in water varying from about 15 to 25 feet.

Hillsdale 11\16\06
Walleye
Up to 10 lbs.
All sizes
Trolling crankbaits along the dam and Little Bull causeway. Fishing crankbaits or jigging slab spoons off the edges of mainlake points. Both methods have produced.
Crappie
Good
Up to 14 inches
Jigs or minnows at scattered depths in deep water or jigging in brushpiles. Anglers have reported catching limits on good days.

Just depends what the guys want to do-- Talking about fishing in the morning and golf in the afternoon.. No -- I do not play with those little balls

Maybe just and eat more..

Rick

Re: Clinton / Hilsdale lake (Duff)

LaCygne is to the point of not being able to launch your boat anymore. They were trying to pump water into it but were not being successful. Hillsdale is getting a lot of pressure- lots of small crappie being caught in the Marysville area. Not sure of the other parts of the lake. I cross the Little Bull bridge everyday on the way to work and at Noon it had 2-3 footers rolling thru. Not sure if the wind will lay down enough to fish. Might put in at Jayhawk and fish the coves and creeks on the south end to avoid the wind. Walleye have been biting and the white bass have been running a little bit towards evening. Good luck!

Re: Clinton / Hilsdale lake (LittleBugMan)

Wind can make fishing tough sometime -- My boat has so much "free board" that wind really moves it alot-- Last time out I bent (just alittle ) my MG TM shaft (My Fault)....... If the wind is out of the south -- can fish along Hillsdale dam.. If the wind is out of the north may think about Clinton..
