    This is a serious post!

My wife and I have been talking the last few months about certain things and one thing has come up more than once.........she misses fishing with me and especially going to Milford. It is very hard for us to get together and fish with an almost 2 year old boy and when they do come with me she feels that all she does is watch him and doesn;t get to fish. We have tried to get a baby sitter on weekends but she has issues with leaving him with people she does not know well. This only leaves a very very few people to choose from and limits us to there weekend schedules.

With this in mind I have had a thought.............that was to come down to Milford to fish for a day or so. I would be willing to watch Owen the ENTIRE time she is fishing but this would limit me to not being able to bring my boat and she does not want to drive it either................With all of the wonder Kansas guys that I have met over the last couple years I am hesitant to ask this but..................

If we were able to come down would anyone be willing to take her out on the lake to fish for them smallies? I am not one to ask for help often but I would really like to give her this gift. I would stay with Owen and go into JC for a while as she fishes. I know she doesn't like going very fast on the water either and it would have to be some decent weather too as she hates fishing in rain...............I am also willing to buy fuel and oil for that day on the water!

I am open for opinions and options but with the fall fishing upon us I would LOVE for her to get into some hot action like I have in the last couple years......pregnacy and other issues have kept her from doing this and I would really like to do this but ask for help from others since it will be hard for me to do it on my own.

I am also open to other lakes.....With my trip to Wilson this weekend I was amazed at the areas I was in with Jason and really liked the lake. there are areas that you can't access by roads and there would be know way you can see half of what that lake has without being on the water .

BTW..........I would like to thank Jason for his hospitallity over this weekend and enjoyed fishing with him on Wilson. I always seem to learn something new and I did this weekend

    Thank You

    Ryan

No offense, but I am not sure I would want to take someone else's wife out fishing alone. Maybe it's just me though. To me, it sounds like she misses fishing with YOU. I would be cool with you coming down with your boat and taking her out for a full afternoon of fishing and me or Lacey watch the little one. Your choice. Lacey and I love little kids. Plus I am sure Owen would enjo the new beagle pup we just bought

    Non taken!

As far as the her and I thing......that has been discussed and we have tossed some ideas around about how to do it too.....I would love to teach her how to run the boat but she is leary about doing it thinking she will damage something.

I will run that buy her to see what she says.....only thing with that is she would have to meet Lacey but she still has anxiety even with her brother watching Owen, not sure how well it would be with Lacey.....nothing against her just something Gina has to deal with.

    well see

    Ryan,
That's an admirable thing to do, but I'm with RJ on this one. You should be the one to put your wife on the smallies. If you want, come down in the Spring around early to Mid May when I'm out camping with the wife and kids. Bring your wife and kids out and I can take you and the wife out for a couple hours and put you on some 50 to 100 fish per day action while my missus watches all the kids. It's important to include your family on some outings like that and not leave 'em at home everytime you go out.

By next Spring your son will be 2 1/2. My youngest is 2 1/2 and I took him out over Labor Day and let him reel the fish in after I hooked them. He really got into that and now wants to fish tourneys with me. It kept him involved and let the wife fish as well. I just ran the TM and put us in the right spots, hooked the fish, and then helped my boys reel 'em in. We got along fine for 3 hrs with 4 of us on my bass boat. I couldn't go WOT, though.

As far as Wilson goes, you know my opinion on that lake already. We fished about a 1/4 of the stuff I fish and there's just no way to hit all the smallie holes in a day. There's just too much structure, but that's a good thing. Compared to Milford, I would pick Wilson 7 times out of 10 to smallie fish, but that's just me.

I think that it boils down to sacrifice. Right now your priorities are with your child which is fine, in a year or so you can begin to take both your wife and child in the boat with you. When my 18 year old was 3 she was tethered to a rope hanging off the back of my 1990 Nitro as I fished Milford. My wife would be along and fished intermittently and entertained our daughter when she needed to. Later when I had two kids they would come along in the boat and sunbathe or play or fish a little. I never caught a bunch of fish during those times, but I guess it was more important to just be there with them. Now that the kids are 18 & 13 they don’t get out as often, but still go from time to time. Enjoy the time that you can while they are small because there will come a time when they pursue their own interests. On the subject of guiding a woman, I’m not against it. I have heard some grumblings regarding the subject at my local club. Bill took a 15 year old female foreign exchange student out last spring and we all thought that he would end up in jail, but it turned out okay. I guess it all depends on the individual.

We'll see how the rest goes.............One thing about Owen though Jason......I have wanted to take him on the boat with me (just me) and the wife has a hard time with that......being she has severe anxiety disorder she would end up in a panic attack the whole time i would be gone and proabably have to have a tranquilizer just to calm her down..........Its hard for me to explain what we go through with this but all I can tell you is that she is seeking help and we are trying to get though it..........this was just supposed to a step alone the path to help out.

Sorry to have posted it in a manner that was very vague and sounded like I was merely trying to get out of something......just trying to find ways to get her to do stuff without comprimising other things we may encounter

When you say 15 yr old exchange student, all I can think of is that gal in American Pie.

    Ryan,
You guys just need to all go out together. Find a spot where you can anchor and just fish and then you can help your son out while the wife fishes. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

I've tried and tried and keep asking..........just doesn't seem to sink in that I want both of them with me...........just gets hard for me to deal with all this crap from time to time and coming home to what I did after this weekend has me thinking very very hard if I'll get the chance to do something like that again......time will tell but for right now........I think i am done till things get better.

I am guessing that the main reason as well is that your wife does not appreciate you gone all the time? My wife is the same way, i take hunting and fishing trips all the time...i see where she could get mad or insecure about me being gone....truth be know, i dont like to leave her behind at all but she doesnt like to do the outdoor things that i like to do...
