    Jason prop question?

I noticed on the props page you had a prop worked by Mark. My questions is does he have a website, and what was the turnaroud? I've been considering getting mine worked by someone..I have talked to Rich Boger a couple times, but I just wanted to hear from you about Mark and his services.

    Brad,

i have had mine worked by Mark too. Once he gets it in his shop he will turn it out in 24 hours & ship it overnight to you.......I had prop back on a friday to put on for a Tx fopr Sat great service.

Sorry he does not have a website but you can call him.

    Re: Jason prop question? (tritonryan)

Ryan, what did it cost to ship it to IN.? I just sent Mark an email to see if he thinks it is worthwile to send it to him.... Some rigs really benefit by having the prop worked, but I am skeptical to think I can get more from my current setup. Champions are not known for being too fast, but I can flirt with 74 MPH with a 200 Yamaha on a 19ft hull, so I'll just have to wait and see what he says.. I think hoping for an additional 3mph would be pushing it.

    OK,
This is between you, me, and the fencepost, but I was originally gonna have Boger do my prop, too. He is really expensive, like 4 or 5 hundred to balance, blueprint, and tweak for performance. He also was a little critical about guys like Mark saying it was impossible to have a 24 hr turnaround time due to the nature of working a prop which consists of heating, repitching, and reheating blades and then letting them cool. Says it can't be done right in 24 hours and claims the prop will eventually warp back to it's original pitch if not done right. I was a little skeptical of that and went ahead and sent my prop to Mark just to see how it turned out, especially since he only charges $175.00. I was very impressed with how it ran over the weekend. Prop looks better than new and improved in all areas, holeshot, midrange, and top end (3 mph). It also settled in at 5800 rpm loaded with two guys, which is just where I wanted it. My Trophy was an aboslute dog out of the box and my Powertech blew it away. Now I'm afraid my Powertech has met its match. I think you'll like the results. He also just sends you a bill upon completion and will rework it as many times as you like until he gets it right. Pretty tough to beat the service. Boger wanted like 2 or 3 weeks to get mine done. I've heard he's awesome, but expensive and slow. Just my .02 Brad.

That is the kind of Info I was looking for.. $175.00 is not bad at all.. I may have a friend pull mine out of the garage and send it to Mark. I wrote him an email and waiting on what he says..

    Thanks

I don't know if you would get an additional 3 mph, Brad. Your prop might be running pretty good stock if you're getting 74 with that rig, although, that is a fast combo. I bet you'll pick up 1 or 2 though and that's worth some cabbage if you ask me.

I may go ahead and get a Powertech VMX 25P and see how it runs.. If it is better than the 25M Yamaha I am turning now (which I was told it would be better) I will send that one instead of the Yamaha prop, and keep it as a backup or for the nasty stumpy Texas lakes.

    Re: Jason prop question? (txbblmb2)

Jason answered pretty well to the fact & Mark will want to know ALL of your current #'s & set-up BEFORE he touches it.........He just want to make an improvement over before.........A champ with a 200 running 74 on GPS..................................Not too sure I'd be unhappy with that ..........JMO of coarse.

Mark will get it right...........It sure helped my Tr-175 get over the 50 mph hump.....that's for sure
Best so far was 51.6 GPS......Looking to try it again today by myself....that was with 2 guys & stuff in it........I can;t pass up 75 deg weather today

Personally I think your right. I dont expect that I can get it any faster than it is..Someone once told me that there were some 2000 model 200hp yamahas that came out of the factory pushing near 225hp. I dont know if its true or not, but I have yet to see anybody In a 19ft Champ with a 200 get the numbers Im gettin. These are consistent speeds too, not just a one time deal.

Lucky you! You might be able to stomp on my Toon with those kind of #'s. Esp. if you're quick out of the hole. That big 'ol rig of mine takes a while to get there, but she's pretty quick on pad.

    Re: Jason prop question? (txbblmb2)

Not sure if that true either Brad..................it may just be a good rumor........you never know though.

You are right though............Don;t know of many champs with 200hp [ merc or hammer] that are over 70.....most run 67-69.8 mph most times........you got a good one for sure

You should here Randy talk about that boat too.........I think he fell in love with it at 72 mph with both you guys & some gear

I would be willing to sacrifice speed for a longer boat!! Say a Champ 223 with a 250 hpdi or a new 210 Champ with 250XS

That would be sweet to0, but while Im dreamin I might as well dream big.. I have always drooled over the 223. The only other hull I would rather have is the Bullet 21XD like a friend of mine in TX.. Jason knows who im talking about.. Sweet, long, fast boat.. With jasons 225 that Bulllet flirted with 80.. were talking a 21'11" boat.. that is Smoking for a boat that big.

    Re: Jason prop question? (txbblmb2)

If you go to the Bullet page on BBC a guy talks about gettin passed by a Toon 21X. To say the least he was embarrased and took alot of ribbing from his fellow Bullet owners.. Earl Bents knows how to build fast hulls, and the 21X is definatlely no slouch!!!
