Need suggestions for trip

I am looking for an idea for a trip in May. There are 6 of us and Kentucky/Tennessee is kinda in the middle. We have 3 boats and a camper, but a cabin isn't out of the question either. Last year we went the middle of April to Dale Hollow. If you remember the weather, it was awful. 4 days of steady hard rain, and one day with severe storms that produced 40-50 mph winds. We stayed at Star Pointe, and by the time we left, our campssite was underwater. I wouldn't mind going back to Dale, but man was it tough, and I don't think the other guys want to go back just yet. Heard Ky. Lake is awesome, but a handful if you don't know where you are going. Any other places to look at? And if so, feel free to suggest a decent place to stay or camp. Thanks

Man it would be hard for me to pass up a trip to Kentucky Lake in May! I stayed at Birdsong Resort on the Southern end of the lake back in May of 2009 and had one of the best fishing trips of my life. When the water gets up into the bushes it can be an absolute blast down there! We stayed in one of their trailer homes but Im pretty sure they have a campground as well near the ramp. Its a great area of the lake to stay and the fishing is excelent starting just outside the marina. Always run the buoys and keep an eye on the weather.

I wouldn't discount Kentucky at that time of year, but no guarantees on the weather there either

Well, looks like Kentucky Lake is out. A little further than one of us wants to travel. So, possibly back to Dale Hollow. Anyone ever rent one of the houses at Starpointe? What about Cumberland? I think that was the lake we drove across going to DH. last year. Looked nice, but didnt really see any lodging close.

It would be worth the extra miles to go on to KY Lake....just saying

Plus if you think Dale Hollow was high you should have seen KY Lake... Wow, it was unbelievable how fast that lake came up... Dan

I would definitely vote for Dale. Even when there is a lot of rain there, the lake stays pretty clear. Not much you can do about storms and rain during the trip. Nothing better than hooking a smallie and in may they should be off the beds and you can catch some major numbers with a swim bait.

Kentucky lake is a very good option, however Old hickory is one of my favorites in may.
I have always stayed in Gallatin which makes for a quick drive to one of the ramps, or you can drive on down to flippers marina.
