    Ky lake.

Ky lake is killing me!!! We just cannot figure anything out this weekend. Finding a few small fish, but cannot get on anything solid. We have tried ledges, but that is not something I am very good at and I dont have any good waypoint to go to. We are just pulling up on stuff and trying to fish it. Been back in a few coves and the small fish are busting everywhere, but cannot get them to hit much. Any suggestions? Still have 2 days left.

Buzz baits on the bluffs early and late in the day. Try the primary and secondary points with texas or carolina rigs and creature baits during bright daylight. That said---my best fish this week came on rip rap and a crank bait.....go figure !

Get out on the main lake flats where you can see stumps next to deep water and throw a top water early and then switch over to a spinner bait, rattle trap or jig, stumps in 2 to4 feet of water should be ideal right now.

Hey Rodney, I don't fish much past Byrd Bay, and never past ginger. Should I be venturing further north?
Also, is the bays any deeper in the backs or are fairly shallow flats like Byrd.

    Re: Ky lake. (201pro)

I stayed around Smith, Duncan, and Pigah all weekend. Didn't have any need to go anywhere else. Caught lots of fish, LOTS! Didn't fish too hard since I had the wife with me, and she hates it when I fish off-shore.....so we spent most of our time chasing the schooling bass with topwaters and chunking swimbaits around the flats and drops. Had no problem catching keepers, but didn't find anything any larger than 3.5 lbs. If we had stuck with it and fished a little harder, we probably could have had about 12 lbs on Friday and then again on Saturday, but we got too hot and went swimming for the rest of the day at the beaches around there.

The best day we had was when we first got there on Friday around noon. There were some huge schools busting shad on top, and eating about anything you threw in there in the middle of the day. Didn't take long to catch a few keepers doing that.

It seemed to me that as the weather started moving in and changing, the fishing started going downhill....Sat. wasn't as good as Fri., and Sun. was even worse, and Monday didn't allow us to effectively fish where we wanted to. The smallmouth were biting good on Sunday with the overcast skies, which was pretty fun!
