Well Lake Malone just kicked my a$$ again this weekend. I really, really hate that lake, but have to fish it in my club to get the points. It took 7.8lbs to win on Saturday and only 10 boats out of 21 turned in fish. Only 14 total fish were weighed in!
Just needed to bitch about that lake somewhere. Almost everybody in our club loves it and I just don't get it. It is consistantly the worst lake and some of the smallest weigh-ins we have every year.
Did you talk to anyone about where they were catching them and on what baits. I know most anglers are not as helpful when asked about these topics but figured they might. I've never fished that lake myself but fished Beshears lake a lot and just by luck, I stumbled onto an early season pattern there and after talking to others there, they had been catching them that way as well.

That's the thing, nobody is catching fish. If I really got my ass handed to me by another angler, that's one thing but I had a pretty good day by comparison. The fish are just so moody. Malone can put up some good numbers, but it won't do it consistantly like Barren or the twins. I've been fishing Malone for 13 years now and it is the most screwed up lake I've ever seen. One day, you can put 25lbs in the boat and go back the next with exact weather and water conditions and not even get bit.
Been to Malone three times. First time I tore up a prop and caught one fish. Second time I tore up my trolling motor and caught no fish. Third time I ONLY got skunked. That lake sux the big one.
Bluffs and a jerk bait is all u need u just gata find the rite bluff.
