Fuel / Water filter

I have a new 250 hpdi. Ranger said it has a fuel/water filter on the engine and I do not need a another remote mounted filter. I have read on the bbc that you need to have one. Anybody know the real scoop?

For the $50 bucks or whatever it costs, put one on. You're buying peace of mind if nothing else.

Get it on there. I didn't have one either.....Guess I got some gas with water in it and the boat started surging. I had to replace all my filters and Yamaha doesn't warranty filters. So 20hrs on my engine I had to get $300.00 worth of new filters to replace the new filters in the boat. If Yamaha says you need them, then I am not sure why they don't come rigged with them on Yamaha rigged boats??? Moral to the story is get one or you will be sorry later.

put one on. Right after i got mine, one of my High pressure injectors went out and yamaha said if i would have had one on there that it wouldn't not have happened. so i argued why didnt they put one on the boat in the first place if it needed one. Yamaha paid to have one put on my boat.. it was either them put it one or i wasnt going to pay $200 to have it done. i would just let yamaha keep putting $3000 high pressure injectors in my motor. i guess they figured it was cheaper to spend $200 than $3000

i put it on the driver side on the back rail just tot he right of the livewell hose. i will take a pic tonight for a better description and post it here

I put mine in the same place as MD ZX225 except on the passenger side.

Just wondering about same question,Does 06 225 Yammi need remote water filter-Raycor to avoid future probs down line w/engine(internal filters,powerheads,etc.),eventhough Ranger has regular one on engine ???? Did you get remote filter on your boat Rustimus????? I saw your pretty Cranberry boat,next to your house...(excellent)!!!I hear there's a sharp red/cranberry combination, hitting the water real soon!!!!

I didnt get one on my rig, but I ordered one from the web site. Now I'm trying to get some tips on installing it. As far as the rig on the Water--I put 5 hours on her last weekend at Lake Ouachita-lol

Here is how i have mine installed. excuse the mess in the bottom of the boat. my onboard charger quit working and i am in the process of taking it out.

thanks for the great pics. seeing this answers my main concern. i was wondering if the gas line could be held in place by hose clamps. I was afraid it wouldn't be airtight and it would suck in air. I ordered the Racor and it should be in any day. Once again thanks and catch a bigum! PS well it came in and as usual I ordered the racor. Now only trouble is there is no place to mount it without cutting the fuel line and splicing a piece in it to make it long enough.

its in the same place is yours, i had just taking it out to get the plate up that the battery charger sits on. it died!!!!!!

So Did your oil tank fit back in there under the Filter. I got my filter last week and got all of the hardware to mount it, but there was not enough room over my oil tank to put it there. I am having to go to the front of the compartment.

BTW - what is that other resevoir with the yellow cap? Do you have Hyd Jack plate?
