I've been to Indy show, but not for a few years. Never been to Lex. show.
If you were a tackle buyer (not looking for a boat, camper, motorcycle), which show would you attend?
Thanks, Mike![]()

For buying tackle, I would go to BassPro, not the Indy show. Save the cost of gas and the cost to get in and spend it on tackle. Never that good of deals to make it worth it.
I work the Lexington show and you don't want to go there to buy tackle!!!!!
Instead of Bass Pro go to a locally owned shop and tackle shop.
Keep the money local and small businesses in business.

Internet shopping is great! You avoid the local little man markup. Easier to track the sales too. Check some of board sponsors while you're at it. A few hours doing that would be better spent than at any boat show, unless you're looking to buy a pontoon.

What Charlie said!!! ALL retailers have a markup, not just the "local little men". I have a few items where it's difficult to compete with the online stores, but across the board, i think you'll find my pricing pretty consistent with the "big people". Plus you get the added advantage of personal service, knowledge and some pretty unique stuff from smaller manufacturers. We mail order too.
You would be better off going to Fishermans headquarters and The Cabin and make a day out of it than going to the boat show to look for tackle.
I'd agree with everyone else. I used to attend the Indy boat show every year when I lived in Indiana. You never find any bargains to speak of. By the time you factor in your driving, fuel, admission to the show, etc., you are much better off to buy things from sponsors or go to someplace like the Cabin, BPS, etc.

Of course I talk to myself...sometimes I need expert advice.
Thanks for the responses, guys. Where is The Cabin?
The Cabin is in Kuttawa. If you make it down this Saturday go by The Cabin in the morning then over to Fisherman's Headquarters for the Mark Menendez seminar that afternoon.

Agree with Charlie, give your money to the small business owners. Customer service will also be better.
Mike,
Indy show is good. Go to tackle town. Sometimes they have some good deals on baits, rods, reels. Every year they have some new baits out that you haven't seen before. I like to hit a couple of the small shops on the way up, too. Here are the two that I know of and have visited.
