Oil tank capacity

Just wondering what the engine oil tank capacity is on the 150vmax hpdi. I was reading the owners manual online (dont have my boat yet) and it states that the engine oil tank holds somewhere around 1.5 qts. That doesnt sound like much. It states that the remote tank holds a lot more. Only thing is I didnt order a remote tank on my boat. (06 Ranger 178vs). Im confused. Does the boat with that motor automatically come with an remote tank or do I have to constantly fill that engine tank up. Sounds like a lot of work. Somebody with this motor help me please. Thanks.

Thanks tr21....the more I think about it, I think the remote oil fill option was for the fill cap mounted next to the gas cap not the acutal tank like I was thinking. Ill just have to fill the actual tank instead of putting it in the fill tube. Thanks

The oil tank is mounted on the side of the engine. It has a reservoir in the bilge area that holds something like 1.5 - 2 gallons.

I have a 2000 Vmax 150 OX66, the remote tank holds 2 1/2 gallons. The small engine mounted tank pulls oil from the remote oil tank.

Here's a tip I did with my remote tank:

When it was nearly empty, I used a permenant marker to mark the oil level on the side of the tank. I then added a gallon and marked the new oil level. Repeated with another full gallon and mark the level again. I found it easier to monitor oil consumption.

I think I burned 4 gallons over 6 months of fishing last year.
