Winona Lake, IN - any good fishing there? May take the 10 footer

Work is sending me up to Winona Lake for a meeting Wed. morning on the 18th

Planning to drive up there the day before (Tues) and might take the 10 ft jon boat and see if I can catch a fish or two.

Is there any public access or do you have to know someone to get access?

    Any hotel/motel recommendations?

I haven't ever been up there before. Is it a nice place?

what time are you leaving on Tuesday?

You could stop in Indy and we may be able to wet a line here if you don't want to bring a boat.......

I don't know much about Winona except it is a clear weedy natural lake

From the pictures I've seen, it has some lily pads in it, and very clear.

I drive through Indy a couple times a month - any good fishing in the area?

Actually was in Suplhur Springs a couple weeks ago. Had lunch at the iron kettle.

Winona lake is a pretty good fishery. Weekend tournaments there frequently.

Winona lake can be awesome at times! There is a ramp on the main lake on the north side of the lake, it's not always open though. Also on the north side of the lake and farther west, there's a ramp in a channel, not sure how to get there though. Some of the local bait shops can tell you how to get there. Lots of weed beds to fish there. On the south east end of the lake there are a couple of humps. One is fairly large, about the size of a football field. The other is very small, the top of the hump is maybe 20' across. Both are good, but the small one seems to really produce some nice fish. Get a topo map of the lake and you will spot both humps. That small hump was one of my brother's top fishing spots on that lake. When I lived in Indiana, I fished that hump and never left it without some good fish.

There are several motels in Warsaw on US 30, more toward the east side of town. There used to be a Ramada, a Holiday Inn and some others.
