    Asian Carp...

are gonna take over the world!!! I don't catfish but a guy I work with does. He threw a cast net out to catch some shad below Uniontown Dam...he said on two different occasions it was so full of 2" Asian Carp that he could NOT lift it over the side of his boat!!!!! With the growth rate of these things...that is scary!! He did say they make good bait!!!

Anyone tried to eat one of these things? Heard Tim Farmer did a show where they were bow fishing for them and afterwords he smoked one and said it was as good as crappie, white and flaky.

Saw that show. He said it was good, the meat was nasty looking before he cut out red meat.

Not if I can help it. This one along with a bunch of it's buddies suffered a severe bout of fiberglass on the brain last Monday.

Yep, there's a push to make a commercial market for them - so as to add fishing pressure and reduce their numbers. If guys can sell the meat for a decent price, then it would be great!

Also trying to get the meat marketed as Silverfin instead of Asian Carp. Silverfin sounds so much better than carp, and might be more easily ordered off a menu.

Call it what you will, but it's still a carp. I'm not eating it.

I was always told the way you eat carp was to put it on a pan with all the seasoning you want, broil it for 5 days, scrape what's left off the pan and eat the fish.

If someone would start paying for these damn things, I could quit my job and make a living on bowfishing. I sure do wish that would come to pass. You guys outta come out with us bowfisherman and give it a try. Its a hoot.

Also, the meat is indeed white and flaky once you get all the bad stuff filleted out.

Nah, sold my fan off the boat last fall, so were sitting this one out. They limited the bigheads/silvers to only 10. (can only weigh 10 in your big 20). Therefore, we are sitting her out. Shame they made that ruling, but oh well. Well be down there shooting bigheads that weekend anyway im sure.

I just wish they could figure out a way to stop them from getting into the Great Lakes. There isn't enough bow-fisherman out there to take them on.
