Nice to finally get out on Patoka!! 15.50 lbs and not a check

Well finally made our first trip out this year to patoka. Fir those that know me Im usually up there 2 or 3 times a week, but due to work and other circumstances this was my first trip. Well our club had our tourney up there Saturday and I got whooped.. Congrats to Tom Schmitt and partner with a winning stringer of 16.96 and to Dan Breineger and partner for second place with 16 and some change.

I thought my brother and I did alright with 5 that weighed 15.50. Thought that would at least get you 2nd in a 10 boat tourney ... Well we got some great fisherman in our club and hats off to them. In this club you gotta catch em' everytime cause somebody is going to.

At least we had big fish of 5.20 lbs. that paid for the trip.. Looks like Patoka is really getting into the spawn too. seen a few that were totally locked on. No big ones just nice solid keepers.

One last note of the 10 boats 5 had limits an the others had 3 fish. not bad at all!!

Sounds like a good day on Patoka. I always loved fishing on that lake, no matter what time of year.

    Congrats man!

My partner and I are in that club, we lost a couple, had a bad day, just couldn't get on any fish. Coming back to the ramp and seeing 5 boats with limits really put us in our place !

15lbs is excellent any day in my book, but at least you got that progressive. Way to go.

Appreciate it, I may take you up on that. I try to get as much info as I can, we did win big bass last tourney, it was 4.59lbs but got 3rd overall (with 2 fish). Not to down that feeling, I was thrilled finally winning something.

I guess it just feels like I luck out with these fish sometimes instead of getting a good idea where they are. Although, when it comes down to it, I guess the main difficulty in bass fishing is usually locating the fish.

I am really glad the tournament doesn't break me financially, boats are bad enough, the club is great, affordable, good members, no bad attitudes at all that I can see. Everyone is very polite and extremely friendly.

we've worked hard to keep the bad apples out. Ive been in alot of clubs and this is the only one ive ever been in where there hasnt been a cross word ever said about another member. really good guys in there. Your right too. A bass is a bass. Get a bait around one and he'll eat. Findin them is the battle. If your not throwin where they're at it doesnt matter what you use..

Eason, you are right it was a great day on Patoka for our club...tons of fish weighed for a small club tourney. Don't sell yourself short - you won big bass and broke the progressive big bass pot that had been running three tourneys. In addition you were within about a pound of first place. It was one of the tightest weighins I can remember in our club. The cool thing is even when its tight everybody is cool about it and congratulates the winners like they deserve. We do have a club with some quality guys.

Tom/Eric were due to put the whoop down on us - they are very solid fishermen and it was only a matter of time before those two brought in a nice bag. I actually called that one before we ever put in the water. Had a feeling they were going to break out.

Watch out for Josh - he is learning fast and before long he will put the whoop down on us too!!! He is already doing alot better than I did when I first started fishing tourneys. Think it took me two years to win anything in a tourney up there and probably that long to weigh my first limit.

Curtis we were certainly missing you...hope you can get that boat back together for next time. I'm going to make the call right here that you are due to bounce back from all the boat troubles and win the next one. No pressure or anything!!!

    Dan-

I need something to go my way, that's for sure...I'm hoping to get out on Monday if everything goes okay and if I get my boat back ...I was running two bildge pumps last time, so hopefully we get the holes welded up and everything cooperates.

Either or I will be there for the next one, bilge pumps or not...

24 lbs is a big 5 fish bag on Patoka or any lake for that matter. Somebody really got on them for sure. Thats impressive but not unheard of up there this time of year. What was big fish in your tourney?

I will tell you guys that it is nice to show up at your tourneys and see the same guys who never cause problems and seem to be happy when others do well. I know Tom and Dan and expect that out of them because I know what type of guys they are but when everyone else is the same way you have a great club.

Sorry I missed this one, looking forward to the next.

We had big fish in our tourney at 5.20 and it came off a trap too...
