Hey Guys, I have a LMS520C in the console and a X135 on the bow. I would like to get another GPS. I would like to move the 520 to the bow and put a 6" or 7" unit at the console and network these two units together and use one module and share waypoints.
I can buy a new 520c here locally for $450. I would just like something bigger on the console for GPS purposes only (staying in channells on unfamiliar waters) The 520 gets kinda hard to read at times.
I would love to have HDS but dont want to spend that kinda money, looking to maybe buy something used ready to go, any suggestions?

If you have a 520 i would just get a 25 26 27 28 unit. I would just buy the head unit and link the too. You can get just the head units for about 500-600 from what i have been seeing. You cannot go wrong with any of these. I have a 26hd and love it when i get my hds8 its going up front !

Make him a offer beng, you need to sell that old 26 any way. Your new HDS8 is setting in the box at the shop waiting for you

I've been using my new HDS-7 (thanks for finially doing the right thing navco) all this week and I like it. It showed me some tarpon today. It got the structure scan also, really makes me want to sell my 28hd and link it with another or maybe an hds-8

Michael; Another 520C (if can be found) would work great for what you are wanting.
Also any of the new HDS units would work. Only problem if you go with one of the newer HDS units is you will end up wanting to get the LSS-1 (structure scan) & the older units (not HDS) will not be able to use the LSS-1.
So unless you are willing/able to spend some cash would stay with the older uints (before HDS) to compliment your present set up.
Good Luck tough choice when trying to upgrade without spending a lot of $$$$$

My present set up is great (HDS 8 @ bow, HDS 10 @ console, w/LSS-1 linked to both)
is great but not everybody is retired and have the finances I am lucky to have.

Thanks Ed, I have not forgotten about your willingness to help, I know we talked once before. The holidays rolled around and was not able to get a new unit yet. Once I get one I will most likely be contacting you on some networking help!!!! I saw some pictures of your rig on the board. You have a very very nice set up!!!!! Maybe we can get together sometime and do a little fishing at Barren or something!

Keep an eye on the for sale boards here. Maybe a lcx 28 or something along those lines can be had reasonably cheap. I have two of the HDS units and dont see alot of improvements over the LCX style except for LSS. Just an honest opinion.

Will also have to agree, as far as the HDS units over the older one nothing new or improved all that much expect for the addition of the LSS-1 system.
