Caught this yesterday at Dale Hollow. The mouth was really small but the fish went almost 19 inches. No patch on the tongue but the jaw did not come to the eye. What is it?

Thas a Dale Hollow Largemouth, Sorry Rodney, you really do need to get away from Ky lake now and then. The largemouth on Dale dont have the mouth that Ky lake bass do.
That is a Kentucky. Notice the jaw not extending past the eye and the dominant spots along the lateral line. They don't always have a spot on the tongue. Game Wardens go by if the jaw extends past the eye not the patch on the tongue.
I'm gonna say a largemouth. A spot usually has more connected dorsal fins. Also, some largemouths will have a tooth patch on the tongue but I think almost all spots have them. Nice fish either way. Better than anything I caught today.
big o largehead if ive ever seen one
Dont mean to hack the post but tell me what you think this one is. It had a patch, not sure on the jaw. It was caught on Barkley today. It weighed over 4 1/2.

Lg/Sm cross? Have read where it does happen.
Same kind of thing is going on out west with Mule deer and White tail deer cross breading.
Jawline is behind the eye, it's a largie.

Largie. The whole patch of teeth on the tongue thing is unreliable at best.
Remember, LM and spots can mix-breed, cross-breed, whatever you want to call it. We see several varieties of them on Old Hickory.

The only fish I caught on Saturday was also a largemouth that I tried to magically turn into a spot. Tough day, no keepers.

Here's a Dale Hollow spot for comparison. I caught if a few years ago on the fly and it spit out that shad.
