    Seaguar Inviz X problems

I bought a spool of this in 12lb to try and really seems like a GREAT line but when I tried it on Saturday I tied on a 3/4oz plug and the very first cast the line broke on the actual cast, I went and got the plug thinking it broke at the knot and it didn't. I retied again and maybe got another 5 casts and it did the exact same thing. I ended up sitting the rod down for the rest of the day. I really like this line alot but those few experiences have created some doubts in my mind. Anyone else had this problem? Could it be the plug was too big for that line?

This is good line, but what I have found is if you get a backlash and kink the line it will break. I use 10lb for most lakes, and 8lb for Dale Hollow. Just my 2cents.

I throw big jigs on 8 or 10lb test InvisX and don't have this problem.... unless I have a nick in the line, then I can sling that jig about 300yds. If its a good knot and no abrasion has occured its better than any line I have spooled. If I see a spot in the line I re-tie immediately.

Ditto to what Greg said - a backlash equals line break. In my opinion.

Seguar introduced a new dual layer that was supposed to address and fix the kink/break issue but I have not seen it on the market yet.

See thats where I don't know what happened because I didnt backlash the line at all on none of the cast. After the first break after I retied I would keep my fingers on the line as I was reeling it to see if there were some bad spots and I felt nothing.

Some of the best line that I have ever used! I have had that problem before with it snapping on the cast. I was putting to much pressure on the back cast and on the foward swing it would just pop. Turned down the spool tension and readjusted the mag brakes and all was good.

Just like other people have said check the line like you have been doing. Did you buy the line from a high volume store or a local bait shop?

I was wondering if that was what I was doing to cause it to snap. I bought it from the local BPS. I'm not giving up on this stuff, going back Friday to buy a few more spools of it.

I have used 12 for those applications. Has served me well all year. Just make sure that the rod is matched to what you are throwing.

Re: Seaguar Inviz X problems (bassman502)

ive had a lot of problems breaking the line. last time i was at barren, brought out a rod with a BRAND NEW spool of invis x. FIRST CAST of the day the line broke 1/2 way through the cast. tried 12-20 and have broke off several fish on this line. kinks were not the problem, just poor line imo.

been using p-line 100% flouro for a few years now and have NEVER had a problem with this line. wont be trying anything new for a while.

the new trilene 100% flouro isnt bad, just doesnt last as long on a reel as p-line. after a few trips the line becomes very dry and just doesnt feel as strong.

i agree, the p-line mono is BAD about memory. but no, the flouro is not bad at all for memory and coiling up.

Re: Seaguar Inviz X problems (Paul8877)

I bought a spool of 12# and 15# of the Inviz X last week.Spooled 2 reels with the 15 # and had 4 break offs ( 2 casting and 2 on hooksets) first thing in the morning. I've been using Segaur Florocarbon for a couple of years now and have never had this problem. I hope I can at least take the 12# spool back and get my money back or trade for a different type of line.
