I said they should have fired him then...I stand by that. Unlike certain other schools we have NEVER been in any kind of trouble with the NCAA. I don't like it and neither do most IU fans.

I don't know. I love IU but I don't like th bad publicity.. How can a few phone calls make a diffenence on recruiting especially for a school like IU. You really don't need to jump the gun to get players.

Maybe I am wrong but it seems to me that to many KY fans, winning is the ONLY thing that matters. Tubby is a case in point. All IU fans want to win as well. However, most of us would NEVER want to win while sacrificing things like, graduation rates, the caliber or character of the young men who play for us (No illiterate thugs or gang members) or the very high standards of integrity that we have ALWAYS abided by at IU. If guilty and it certainly appears that Sampson is either guilty of cheating or of being unbelievably stupid, he needs to be fired....period. Never mind the fact that what he is accused of is minor in comparison to cash and cars and jobs for athletes that others have been guilty of he still needs to go if he is guilty. We have won 5 NCAA Championships in the past and did it without cheating and if it takes cheating to win a sixth, then I am NOT interested. (By the way Bill...how many NCAA Mens Basketball Titles has Purdue won????) I know I am not the only IU fan who feels that way either.

Kind of thought they had sold their soul when they hired that guy, I think there is always a lot of " damn the torpedoes, win any way we can" money floating around at any school and looked to me like it seized the upper hand in Bloomington.

Disclosure: I am a Boiler, we are saying it a little louder this year

Yes, here in the Commonwealth, we are accustomed to winning but it is not the only thing that matters to us, most of us anyway. We would be as dissatisfied with our coach if he was accused of the same antics that Sampson is accused of. Gillespie has proven himself to be a fine recruiter and it won't suprise me if BCG gets charged with performing some of those same violations in the future. If that happens, he should hit the road.

Purdue has not won a national title. My comment was in jest. Sorry to ruffle your feathers.

Oh no IU won't put up with a crazy, profane or physically abuse coach for 30 years just because he was winning either. Let's face facts IU and UK and the fans and boosters are all about winning basketball games. Not graduation rates or humanitarian awards, if they were I would have gotten Jamal Mashburn's scholarship at UK and he would have gone to IU where they cared about winning basketball games.

You're right it is about winning basketball games but VERY few kids go to the NBA so graduation rates and education are important and IU was always one of the best if not the best when Knight was at the helm. I certainly didn't agree with all he did, but I assure you he was FAR from the only coach who was profane and abusive. My high school coach wore me out for example and used words I hadn't heard before! Knight always got a lot of attention because he as winning.

You Purdue boys can rest easy, you didn't ruffle my feathers. My Purdue remark was aimed DIRECTLY at that Indiana trader Billius who left the state and is a Purdue fan!!

Kyle....maybe I took the bait a little hard! No harm no foul!

He's actually a spy, we sent him south to look for some football players. Hard to maintain that #65 recruiting class every year unless you're really dedicated

I've been looking for those football players down here...I had a couple in mind, but they decided to go to Alabama of all places!

By the way the word is "traiter" not trader Woody!!

I do think there is a chance, just a chance that the Boilers may well be Big Ten Champs this year or at least have a share of it. Also for the rest of the Big Ten schools...the Boilers may well be holding that title for a few years!

One thing you can say about IU's past track record, including former coach Knight...they did graduate people, and they didn't break any rules...at least they weren't caught breaking any rules! Same can be said for Keady at Purdue and for Matt Painter at Purdue as well!

By the way, Purdue has won 21 Big Ten Men's basketball championships...IU has 20.

    Re: Hey hibbard (billius)

Bill it's about time you weighed back in on the subject! Purdue is having a GREAT season and I have nothing but the highest respect for the job that Painter has done and for former coach Gene Keady. Actually the only thing I can say bad about Keady is that he and his wife had some of the most (and I'm trying to be kind) "Unique" hair styles in the history of sports!

    Re: Hey hibbard (billius)

Actually the word is traitor but it is Hibbard you need to educate, not me. If he's like most Hoosiers he has trouble spelling I U anyway so probably a waste of time Actually we'd probably be willing to trade for some football players, they go thru a lot of corn in their deer feeders down there, maybe we could work something out.

Do not understand the Big Ten at all, IU-Purdue only playing once this year, would think they could preserve the rivalry games. Hoosier fans at church still talking about bringing back Knight, you'd think they would realize they need someone young to come in and run a program, not a band aid for maybe a couple more years. Don't think BK has the energy for a cleanup job which is what someone is gonna inherit down there, sanctions, scholarship loss etc
