    Harrington Lake

Never been on Harrington and thinking of fishing there this weekend at nite. Anyone fish there on a regular basis that could tell me alittle bit about it and what would be some good baits to throw. Will have emtpy seat available this summer at C-land and will post when time comes. So someone better be able to go...

you can post on here or give me a call at 606-271-6948

    Thanks,
    Fred

    Re: Harrington Lake (countryboyky)

Fred, I grew up 5 miles from Herrington, used to fish it 2-3 times per week, more often during the summer (nights). Herrington used to have more pounds of fish per acre than any lake in the state. I prefer to fish from the Hogback to Redgate. I have spent many long nights in the Gwinn Island/Mocks Creek area. Since I moved to Somerset in '99 I haven't been back but my brother fishes there all the time. Come out to Plapp's Saturday for our open house and I'll fill your head with ideas for Herrington. If you don't use BassBoatSaver on your hull you will get a scumline. If you launch at Herrington Marina, you'll be close to the best fishin'.

    Herb,

Will try to make it out there Saturday morning. I was there last Friday looking for carpet for my trailer. Spent the rest of the day going to carpet stores and Lowes with no success. Guess I will have to order it. Shoot me a price on 2 red Bullet life jackets. I think Michael Listermann said ya all might have them at the north store.

    Thanks,
    Fred

Grew up fishing Herrington (lived in Mocks Creek subdivision...went to Boyle Co. HS). You better have a good spotlight and allow yourself a lot of travel time at night. There's a LOT of debris floting in that water and you're going to hit most of it as you drive at night. Fish deep...

I used to live just 5 minutes from that lake and would drive 2-4 hours to fish ANY other lake. Some years they keep the water level normal and the fishing is pretty good. However that might be 1 year out of 10 bad years. Most of the time I would go past it and hit Cedar Creek but now I hear its getting hammered!!

If you have to fish that lake Red Shad worm or junebug.

I would drive to cumberland on a regular basis rather than fish Herrington and cumberland was 1hour and 45minutes away.

Herrington is a great night time summer lake. It has tons and tons of fish in it. The area that Herb described is the area that I consider the best as well. Good luck. WATCH THE DEBRIS!!!!!!!!

Bill Dance referred to Herrington as the Dead Sea, but I feel more capable there than any other lake I've fished. It's very narrow and extremely deep, some of the banks are perfect for worm and jigs at night. Big H is my favorite lake with Dale a close second........

Went down to Plapps today in Burnside and met Herb for the first time. Great guy who gave me plenty of information. Just wanted to say Thank You to Herb and hope we get to wet some lines together since he only lives less then a half mile from me.. Small world huh. When it comes time to trade my rig in I will be seeing Herb First Class Act and Mrs. herb was great too

    Thanks again Herb
