    Green Curados...

Hey guys, just got an offer on some new (older) green curados for a good price. I have one of the new 200D's (silver) and love it. Are these reels just as good? Thanks.

    Re: Green Curados... (arjone01)

its just my opinion but NO. i have had 4 of these and after about 3 years theyre all trashed. the same problem that i have had with all 4 of mine i know of several others that my buddies have had do the same thing. the tension washer in the left side of the spool keeps wearing out. it doesnt make the reel unusable but it does make them difficult to cast. the problem with mine is that when the washer gets warn out it gives the spool vertical play wich allows it to vibrate and squeal during a long cast. thus making it very difficult to get any distance out of. maybe its just cause i fish way too much but i know of several that have had the same prob. if you can find any of the older green superfrees, i think they are much better. but, like i said thats just my opinion. i know lots of people who absolutely swear by them and wouldnt own any other reel. reguardless i still feel shimano is the absolute best reel on the market as far as quality and durability go. drew.

you can replace those little discs pretty cheap, and easy. I have 8 of the green curados, half SF models. They're a great deal for the money IMHO, and I've used them a bunch.

The new curados are on the same level with the chronarchs. The chronarchs were still $269 when they were making the green curados and selling them for $119, that is the difference in quality. However, I have 6 of them and they keep on going.

I have used the green ones (alot) for five years. I really like them. I have about ten that I use plus a couple that are unused and four 100's. Never a problem with them. If you decide not to buy them, if you can, let me know where they are.

Will do, I was down at Kattawa in October for the Midwest Nationals. Good place down in there. Nice ramps.

    Re: Green Curados... (arjone01)

They are all I own. I'm guessing that my oldest one is 6-7 yrs old and still trucking. I purchased about 1 per year for 6 years and I can't tell whcih one is the oldest. I don't get to fish as much as some of you guys, but still, I've only had to repair one of them (anti-reverse fudged up). I haven't bought any of the new ones yet. Looks like there might be a fight on here for them if you tell us where they are

    Re: Green Curados... (arjone01)

I have 18 of the green ones, with some of them being 8-10 years old. I would still have more if they still made them. Very few probs with any of the them. Have replaced a bearing or washer here and there, but nothing major. They are great reels, if they are a good buy, then I would get them. If you don't like them, there are lot's of us that do and would buy them from you...

    Re: Green Curados... (201pro)

I have 6 green ones and have had 0 problems with them. I keep them clean, oiled, and greased. One of them is the first year that the greens ones came out (older ones were red) and it is still mech 10/10 mechanically. I have no experience with the newer sliver ones, but for the difference in money I would spend the extra $50.00 and buy the Chronarch 50MG

Sorry guys, got em' for myself. 2 new ones in boxes for $100. Sounds like I did good on the deal. If I hadn't gotten them I would have told you but you guys talked me into them. Thanks.

    Re: Green Curados... (txbblmb2)

The new Citica's are the equivilant to / replacement of, the old Green Curado's. The new Curado's are like the old Chronarch's. So the price for them has not changed, you just buy the Citica's now for the same bearing count and quality of the old Curado's...

    Re: Green Curados... (201pro)

I had 8 green curados but when I heard they were not going to make them anymore...I bumped my total up to 12. Some (at least 4) are over 5 years old and have never had a single problem with them. Steve

Thanks guys, I'm sure they'll be good reels. I have a new citica and a new curado and both are just great. I'm sure these will be a good addition.
